I know this is an old video but you really helped me. I have a multilingual family as well. Now I'm a grandparent and my grandkids live in Japan. So the blank or creative Tonies is what I was wondering about. The fact you use them for Cantonese and Vietnamese, told me Japanese and Korean will be feasible. So they can get exposure to all three languages... English, Japanese, and Korean. So thank you for such a great video.

Thank you for your review! I watched your other video comparing the different options. I am leaning towards the storypod cause it grows with your child, but my daughter is two and loves the Disney characters so I’m still torn on which to get. The story pod of the Toni!!? Which would you choose for a two year old girl?

If your daughter likes the characters available from Tonies I’d lean with that. My daughter is 3 and besides for Daniel Tiger she prefers Tonies with the Disney.

Thanks for the video. I went back and forth quite a bit between different music solutions for our 2 year old. She used to use a phone and would choose her own music there but recently started expecting screen time and KZbin Kids constantly. So we need a screen free solution instead now. It's really important to us that whatever music box she is going to use, she can truly use by herself. She is one of those toddlers who gets upset when they need help. Watching your video, it really seems to be quite some force necessary to skip tracks. So after this video my tendency is more towards the yoto mini even though the toniebox seems otherwise easier for a toddler. What made you decide on the Toniebox over other screen free players? Thanks
@kevin-lu2 жыл бұрын
The biggest draw for me for the Toniebox over others was the cute figurines that I figured would draw my son's attention better than the cards that come with the Yoto. Also I know toddlers are going to drop things so the padding on the Toniebox makes me feel a bit better for drops. My son currently doesn't seem to care to switch between tracks so I haven't had any issues with him getting upset that skipping wouldn't work. Almost all other reviews I've seen keep saying it was easy and simple to use, but for me it wasn't as simple. Of course unless my Toniebox is defective.
@ronjab45862 жыл бұрын
@@kevin-lu I just wanted to update, that your box seems to be fine - I also have to use quite a bit of force to skip 😉 We actually went with the yoto mini right after I wrote here but that was a disaster. It was very intuitive to use for our daughter but she was immensely frustrated with it. Some of the worst tantrums we ever had. At this point, I think it's because of the little display - that she thinks it would need to react to her touch. However, her grandparents didn't know that we already got her a player and got the Toniebox for our daughter. She had it 2 days now and is obsessed. Absolutely amazing how much she loves it - so far I only gave her the playtime puppy figure and she listened to it 2 days in a row nonstop, morning till evening. She isn't even interested in skipping anything. So thank you for your review, next time I'll listen to your recommendation right away 😉

Do you prefer the tonie box or the yoto mini. We have a tonie box. But travel a lot so thinking of the yoto.
@kevin-lu Жыл бұрын
For travel the Yoto Mini is hands down the better option. My children love the Tonies, but they're not as compact when packing so harder to travel with. I don't have a set preference, but find that each has situations where I prefer one over the other. I prefer Yoto Mini for travel, while the Toniebox is much easier to use for my 21 old daughter. Also for most content from 3rd party like Disney I think Toniebox does a better job or at least in my opinion they do as they tend to use real voice acting from the movies/shows. Yoto so far I've only see the new Pat Patrol set use real voice acting from the show.

But when we disconnected from wifi it wouldn't play any of the characters we placed on the box. I can't find any directions on the tonies website on how long we need to keep the characters in for them to download. Currently we aren't able to get it connected to wifi again but we are still trying. I really want this box to work.
@kevin-lu2 жыл бұрын
The stories should download right after you place them onto the Toniebox. You’ll know it’s downloading when you see the lights blink blue. Another option is to squeeze one of the ears for 3 seconds and that should check for available downloads.

I really like the idea behind this but I’ve noticed that for example the Matilda tonie is only 80ish minutes long but the Matilda audiobook is over 4 hours long so surely it must not have the full audiobook on it which would be very disappointing to me
@kevin-lu Жыл бұрын
Due to the nature of Toniebox I don't think they're really good for long form content like audiobooks unless they're short. I can imagine some frustration should a child decide they want to pause on the audiobook and listen to some music, but when they put the Tonie back on the audiobook starts over at the beginning. Even with chapters it'll be hard to keep track of.

He doesn’t always listen to the stories as much. He likes the songs more right now. I do notice that he goes through week or two where he doesn’t care then suddenly he listens everyday for a week or two. The creative tonies also help in that I can constantly update the songs on them to keep things fresh.
@christopherp.hitchens39022 жыл бұрын
I hesitated buying this “toy” since you are NEVER really finished buying the thing. It seems to rely on your children getting tired of the stories it does have and then will demand more stories at $20 a pop. Worst of all, I am apparently required to SET UP AN ACCOUNT with PASSWORDS, confirmation emails …which, considering I am already up to my eyeballs in passwords and codes, I was NOT expecting setting up a stupid TOY!!! I swear, if this damn thing gives me just 5 minutes of grief…I will throw it out the window and shoot it dead! I will never make this same mistake again!
@kevin-lu2 жыл бұрын
If you get the creative tonies you can upload your own music and audio stories. I use a password manager to handle all my passwords these days. But if you’re having frustrations over this maybe this isn’t for you and your family. Every family is different.
