I just completed my GR Bass rig, adding an 8 ohm, 350 watt AeroTech Cube 112 cabinet to go with my AT cube 500 combo. Super impressed. This video helped me pull the trigger on the 500 combo sound unheard. Zero regrets. Thanks, Ed!

Great review. I have the GR Bass ONE800 Combo with single 12 inch speaker and a match single 12 inch extension cab. It is a monster of a set up and sounds amazing. I use a little flat folding trolley making it really easy to transport.

Great review, as usual. I had their 2x8 4ohm as well, driven by a 500w Aguilar head. It never broke a sweat and always sounded fantastic!

I'm thinking of a similar setup how do I find playing with a loud drummer?
@td40493 жыл бұрын
@@RachelAracan its loud for sure... but depending on the type of music you're playing, and with a loud drummer, there's only so much a 2x8 can can do. If you're playing hard rock or heavy metal it may struggle.
@RachelAracan3 жыл бұрын
@@td4049 thank you for response. I do the occasional rock & funk gigs but mainly country, r'n'b/gospel not hard rock or metal. Generally I DI into the PA so I'm more concerned about stage sound. Do you feel the bass through this cab?
@td40493 жыл бұрын
@@RachelAracan I was also mainly playing jazz/funk, but with a drummer who was pretty dynamically restrained. Going direct for house volume and stage volume I was always good. That being siad, there's only so much a smaller cab will do, even when engineered well. Honestly, if stage volume is at all a concern I still feel going modular is best. Having a couple 1x12 cabs on hand, to me, is always the safest bet.

Nice review Ed. That's a great sounding rig, man their stuff is light, even the wood cabs are light. What is amazing is that each bass speaks clearly with its own personality through the rig with the same settings, that's remarkable. I'm going to check these out. Keep well Ed.

Ed, I am pleased as punch that you did this video as I have been quite curious about GR Bass stuff. I am definitely thinking of getting the 2x8 carbon fiber version. I assume the advantage of the 8-ohm version is that it makes it easier to add a second cabinet later and conversely, the 4-ohm is probably best if you plan to use only that cabinet.

thanks for demoing with the 5, was wondering how it would handle that low B. sounds great
@BassWhispererTV3 жыл бұрын
Even though I never play 5 any more, I know everyone needs to know if the rig can handle it. That is about the cleanest, purest sounding bass I own. A great neutral-ish brush to paint with.

I play a KK Baby Bass too! I haven't tried them together because they're in different places... but I'm sure it would sound great. The point of me playing all those basses to show the amp makes everything sound true to itself.

Great review. How does the lighter cab sound compared to the heavier cab?
@BassWhispererTV3 жыл бұрын
Well, I haven't A/B'd them, but my impression is the graphite is a little punchier. There is NO flex to the cab walls, no voids in the plywood, nothing to vibrate... all the energy is directed forward.

Will this replace your F112 now? It's smaller, lighter, seems to give you what you want on most gigs?
@BassWhispererTV3 жыл бұрын
Well, the F112 will go where this one can't. But I've found the 112 is even too much for some of the venues I play locally. So, most likely, I'll use this on my small gigs, but if I need to go big, the F112 and the Carvin DCM/BBE Bassmax rig is damn loud enough for anything. Of course... I DO have a jones for one of their 212 Slim cabs in graphite... but I'm going to get a 112 in graphite for some upcoming acoustic shows with the Mavs. We're going out for some low volume shows, and the F215 will obliterate everything in it's path.

This Is the best managing e string ... without distortion tight sound. At home Is very nonsense playing more for of light cabs. The gr head has top defined sound with effective undistorted regulations. The Cab sound Is pretty tight...if you like warm sound Is not for you. Perfect for slapping.
