I think I’m finally starting to understand franking credits. You’re a legend. Please keep talking to us like we are 3 year olds. It’s the only way I’m going to get this 😂 thank you 🙏

Thank you so much Michael! 2 hours' lecture doesn't make me understand the franking things. But I can fully understand how it works by this 5 minutes' video!

Thank you for the great video Michael! Your explanation is excellent! I am a foreigner and want to buy "VAS" etf. And it pays out the dividend. Are they franked or unfranked? Will my tax be withheld? How much percent of tax do I get to pay? Thank you, Michael.

If you're a foreigner, your tax will be different to an Aus tax resident so can't comment on your specific situation VAS is partially franked. Most recently 87% franked. So there are some tax credits that come along with the dividend. Check it out here www.investsmart.com.au/shares/asx-vas/vanguard-australian-shares-index-etf/dividends

Hi Michael, really like your video! I have a question I can't seem to find an answer to. I'm mathematically challenged 🤪 I hope you can help. I have a SMSF but my dividend yields are average at best. My question is if I buy a fully franked share and the (gross) yield is say 5% (I'm a self funded retiree) is my total yield 7%? Instead of working it out because I can't...is there a rule of thumb... say 5% yield and 50% fully franked = add 1% yield eg 6% and a 5% yield 100% fully franked i add 2% = 7% total... it doesn't have to be exact but I need to know. I'm aware of other things to be aware of say mid or large cap , growth investments etc but I'm selling some of my low yielding stock but I need an easy formula or can I just add 2%, 3% etc... I hope you understand what I'm trying to say. Thanks 🙏 😊 Irene
