This is my old m6! As an OG Hoovie subscriber, it’s awesome to see it end up in his hands. I previously sold it on Bring a Trailer to a car collector and it looks like he never took my EZ Tag and registration stickers off. I collected all of the paperwork for the car since it’s original purchase into a binder that should be with the car. If it’s not, I’m happy to share all of that as I still have it saved on my computer. Enjoy! It’s my favorite car I’ve owned, and my third bmw v10.

Here in the uk there’s a company that regularly manual-swaps V10 M5s and they use the manual box and diff from an E92 M3 which apparently works well. I would assume it could be done to the M6 as well. As the ratios are shorter it reduces the theoretical top speed but is much better suited to the torque of that V10.
@DocGTO8 ай бұрын
You can try getting the European SMG tune, which really does improve the gearbox quite a bit. Also, your catalytic converters are off of your headers so basically you can do cats back and virtually put almost nothing there with the exception of rear resonators and the car will sound amazing and it's not loud inside at all. I did that to my M5 along with a custom dyno tune and it really rolled out.

I have a dinan stage 1 tune to remove the speed governor, which I can confirm worked. The car seems to consume about 1 quart of oil per 1200 miles. If I was ever so blessed to have money I would buy a 2000s V10 BMW and just do twin turbo LS swap. They look nice on the outside but I wouldn't want to mess with all that mess

At best with the SMG its a 20k car. Not rare or valuable. So go ahead and do manual conversion, exhaust upgrade, Eventuri intake, etc.

Had an '08 M6, same color with the carbon roof. Sold it 4 years ago for 15k. It had 68k miles on it. About 50k miles is when all the problems started. By the time we sold it, it had the entire ABS/TCS system replaced, it was on its 5th battery. Throttle actuators both replaced (do the gear upgrade). Slave cylinder went - new clutch, flywheel. It killed an alternator. It really likes to eat the power window regulators. It was a great car when it worked.

Sounds like you had one big issue that was never diagnosed or rather misdiagnosed until the end. Hate that even BMW mechs couldn't find the issue.

I think it's just BEAUTIFUL. But I would definitely do the manual swap. I can't wait to see it when it's done 👍

Just a thought...find an early 2000's Land Cruiser, 4 Runner, or Sequoia, fix it up with overland stuff. Then drive it for a few months and flip for a profit.

As someone who owned an E60 M5 and an E63 M6, they are AMAZING cars. I sold my M5 for 10K more than I bought it 1 year later. Freddy hated it and laughed at me. But I was right at the end, they're shooting up in values.

You sold your m5 to Freddy?
@lockingdiff8 ай бұрын
@@lawrence2012v8 He made fun of me for buying one. 😅 But I also have a love-hate relationship with BMWs. I sold my E92 M3 and the E60 M5 for a G82 M4.

The Carbon fiber roof was standard for the m6. The power button is to unleash the full +500 horsepower. Default startup mode is 400 horsepower. I had a 2010 m6 Silverstone metallic. I miss it soo much! The only major repair I had were the throttle actuators. I did have to service the differential but wasn't too major. All between 45k and under 55k miles. I think the thermostat was on its way out when I was selling it.

I vote for the manual swap. I did a swap on an 06 M5 (car was reviewed in a 100percentjake video with his corvette). Worst part was finding the factory parts! Wiring diagrams are available via newtis and part numbers via realoem. Used a transmission out of an e92 m3 and had to have the driveshaft modified. Driving a V10 car with a 6 speed manual was well worth the effort in my opinion.

None are left because even the car knew it should put ITSELF out of it's future misery. An out of warranty BMW is an endless money pit.

I’ve heard the manual is not that “well matched” to the V10. I believe you can also swap the DCT from the M3 which is probably the best option
@402SHO8 ай бұрын
Hoovie one thing you should look into is WPC treating those bearings if you have to replace them. WPC is a micro bead blast that doesn’t affect the thickness or surface but makes the surface slick like there’s already a flim of oil on the bearing. It’s something I’ve seen in the BMW forums and used on my built 3.5 ecoboost.
@gctzx8 ай бұрын
The most widely used BE & ACL bearings give more clearance, mostly rectifying the problem.
@402SHO8 ай бұрын
@@gctzx yea the thread I read was very old but hey if it works it works it’s not to expensive to do. You can also do more parts in the engine but I see you can do them without dropping the motor.
