Even in 2022, there is no woman who can match the beauty and grace of these two beauty icons. Not only their fashion style but also the way they talk, the way they stare, the way they walk, their body language, their gesture are things you will never find again. Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn are the symbol of classic and timeless beauty ♥️💯

You’ll notice most of the clothes these ladies wore were classic pieces which could work in any era. Audrey is my absolute favorite, because of the hardships she endured and her inner as well outer beauty. But that’s not to take away from Grace, who really was an exquisite swan who loved her new country and was a fantastic mum (as was Audrey). These ladies give all of us inspiration!

Hardship-true hardship reveals beauty or bitterness when its all said & done. In Audrey, beauty for sure. Times so much ore, because she endured and overcame the opportunity to be bitter.

Probably not but you can't know for sure, Marilyn had her jaw and nose done and it was beautifully made, in an undetectable subtle manner and the result changed her career. I do agree that plastic surgery is more and more excessif and absurd but that's often what women are asking for, we live in a time where Kim Kardashian is consider to be the ultimate beauty icon and no one today have the slightest idea of who Gene Tierney was but that doesn't mean that a plastic surgery can not be done beautifully.The question is what is a "real" beauty? The amount of glamour, with hairstyle, hair color ( to have her specific blonde hair Grace Kelly would go under such an agressif green ammoniac dye that she would bleed ) make up, eyebrows lines, clothes (painful under corset and girdles), lighting (not mentioning painful electrolysis to reshape Rita Hayworth's forehead or extracting Marlene Dietrich, among others, premolars in order to give her cheekbones) that was used in Hollywood Golden Age, would make anyone look beautiful. Imagine the same Grace Kelly or Audrey Hepburn, with today's fashion (usually a denim trouser, trainers and a T- shirt), no or bad make up, bad hair cut and color as most women do now in order to be "confortable" and look "young" while chewing a gum under green neon light behind a cash register in a Walmart. That's real beauty.... when it comes to beauty Helena Rubinstein had the perfect quote: " there is no ugly women, there's only lazy women"
@alimahdavi1
@alimahdavi1 4 жыл бұрын
@Надежда Ярошинская I’m sorry, I don’t understand your points? What is it that you want to explain an in which way it’s in opposition, contradiction or even related to what I wrote? I don't see why Icons are not for objective discussions? Is there a law against that? My point is that there is something calls “glamour” that reached his epitome during Hollywood “Golden age” and that any woman can benefit of this science by refereeing to those Hollywood goddesses and trying to emulate them. The same way that someone such as Dita Von Teese, one of today’s most beautiful living woman, is doing it through knowledge, dedication and hard work (whether you agree with me or not, it doesn’t matter, for me she’s the closest example to how glamour can transcend a woman’s beauty). You also won’t make me change my opinion about the fact that both Audrey and Grace would most probably passed unnoticed if you would see them today, (at the same age than they are on those previous pictures) if they were cashiers in a Walmart, with too much fake tan, maybe an unnecessary nose job and mouth fillers, a pair of denim, trainers, a t-shirt, no make-up and with one of those unformal haircut and unidentifiable hair color that most of the girls have today. My previous answer was also about the wrong idea that there was no plastic surgery during the fifties and that, yes not everyone is born beautiful and certainly no one is beautiful all their life long. But I also believe that the most beautiful women in the world are often not the one who were born this way (who often take it for granted and make no extra effort) but the ones who worked hard, mostly by using all the tools that glamour can offer, in order to achieve their own vision of beauty. Which actually is good news because it democratic and confirms what I said previously: there is no ugly women there’s only lazy women. Long live to Glamour.
@alimahdavi1
@alimahdavi1 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your wise and beautiful answer dear @Надежда Ярошинская , we do agree on everything except maybe you might judge plastic surgery only by the caricatural way it is use today, especially in America. But plastic surgery was always present as one of the tools to achieve perfection in Glamour, even in Hollywood golden ages, among many other techniques, they used it, to transcend human beings into immortals Gods and Goddesses, a few examples: even before the film industry, Sarah Bernhardt, the legendary stage actress did around 1900 a full lifting (she is actually known to be the first human being who ever had a lifting). It's now proven by recently discovered X-rays that the ultimate icon herself, that I worship: Marilyn Monroe had a little nose job and a chin reduction at the beginning of her career in early fifties (she took a huge risk, specially for the jaw reduction where they have to break the bone, it can disfigure you for life and she was very brave, maybe one of the first ten peoples in the world to do it, it was so new, nearly experimental) and only after that she became a star. The examples are countless: Key Kendall nose, Raquel Welch floating ribs removed, (a forbidden procedure today because of the life matter danger and the pain it afflicts at the point that if anyone wants to do it, they either have to go to Mexico or to stage a fake car accident in order to have the right to do it). Uma Thurman or Megan Fox had both very subtle and beautifully done nose jobs (only to reduce the cartilage on the lower part of the nose, without touching the bones). Hedy Lamarr had so many innovative procedures that she would design herself, that some of them still have her name attached to it. And where do you start to consider a procedure to be a plastic surgery operation. My ultimate icon and the most efficient transformation and successful example of the power of Glamour, Marlene Dietrich, had after the “Blue Angel” and before her first American movie for Paramount studios: “Morocco", an operation who changed her from a “quite common pretty woman” into an untouchable bird of paradise, on the strict advice of her director/lover/ pygmalion/ mentor, the genius Josef von Sternberg. Her second bicuspid (premolars) were on both side extracted in order to achieve, (under the sophisticated lighting ,created specifically for her, with the help of the “key light”) those shadows under her cheek bones, that became one of her major all-time signature and added her an even bigger mystery and power that hypnotized her audience. Now I agree with you that today, many of the esthetical procedures (not only surgery but also fillers, Botox etc) can become so extreme among celebrities in general and specially in Hollywood, that as the great director John Waters once said: those women don’t look younger, they either look like Aliens or third degree burned victims. Like everything, it’s not because there are horrible examples of it (often women get addicted to it, and the are the ones who ask always for more) that plastic surgery is by itself, something to disapprove drastically, when it’s beautifully done (which means nearly undetectable) it’s for me a form of art. And be certain that many of your favorit icons of Hollywood golden ages went through it without anyone knowing or noticing it, for instance, till a few years ago, there were suspicions but no proof for Marilyn, now we have them and they are undeniable. So, if you look carefully to her before and after pictures, I’m quite certain that even you will have to admit that she became much more beautiful after the operations. Warm regards. Ali

Dear @Надежда Ярошинская, (you know that I have no idea what your first name is since it’s in, I believe, written here on Cyrillic writing), I wanted to compliment you, you have a very poetic way to create sentences and express your opinion, (maybe you are a writer) and also, thank you for the kind tings you said about my previous comment. Reading you talking about “their outstanding boldness and dedication to their profession! Perfection was their destination” and name them “super human” remind me how difficult it can sometimes be to define beauty and how far the quest of it can bring you. Two very different examples (among many others) came to my mind: of women who in their quest of perfection, went through some such extreme transformations, trespassing the frontiers of conventional beauty, in order to fit to their own, nearly childish, exaggerated fantasy of beauty. One of them is the so lovable, adorable and admirable Amanda Lepore ,that went very far on her reach of perfection in order to look like a living fantasy of a drawing of a woman, more than the mainstream, popular, pretty girl next door that she was at the beginning of her transformation,(quite close to what most women dream to look like but it obviously it wasn’t enough for her). And the other one, is the very outrageously excessive, surreal yet (at least for me) very touching (because you could feel that the painfully extreme transformations she went through, were proportional to her screaming need of attention and affection) is Lolo Ferrari. Probably no one outside some French people, who mostly considered her as a curiosity, in the nineties before her tragic death, would know who I’m talking about. But for me she was fascinating and somehow heroic in her desperate, insatiable quest of beauty based on a kind of hypertrophied interpretation of what an “archetypal blond beauty” such as Brigitte Bardot should be in the collective male unconsciousness. I mean all my life and work is dedicated to the glorification of beauty trough Glamour mostly based on the codes mastered by the Goddesses of Hollywood Golden Ages but I must admit that I do have a tenderness and an admiration for those who goes so far on their quest of their own obsessional vision of beauty (that maybe initially was coherent and based on a consensual stereotype of it, before it somehow got distorted in their mind) to the point they pushed it so far and uncompromisingly that it went beyond beauty. I guess at this point we are far from the initial comment we both reacted to but it’s what you wrote about the “super human” that made me want to pay a humble homage to some of the most exaggerated, brave and sometimes misunderstood ones of them. Best regards, Ali Mahdavi

I totally agree with you! They both radiated the screen with class, style elegance and grace. Audrey the Brunette was incredibly gorgeous, but Grace the Blond icy cool was a otherworldly beauty. Ladies or a last epoque whose fashion standards keeps on ruling fashion world. Grace and Audrey are the 2 most famous, the 2 greatest Style Icons ever.

I loved Audrey Hepburn in My Fair Lady & Breakfast at Tiffany’s- there will never be another princess like her - my sister & I made it a point to go to Tiffany’s when were in NY visiting family, standing exactly where Holly had stood in the movie 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡

This is a tough one, it really is. It is so hard to pick which I prefer. If I were held at gun point, I would probably say Grace Kelly though. I don't know really, they are both beautiful women and great actresses!

I agree with all all the comments about the grace and style of both stars. They are inspirational. Unfortunately I can't name any current actress who is able to rival either one. In the 50's & 60's visiting the cinema was much more than just going to watch a film. Nowadays fans are so close to celebrities and know everything about their lives. There is no longer any mystery attached to film stars.

Outstanding to bring these wonderful women to the small screen and show what they were in their lifetime and to the fashion world. We have no movie stars that can surpass the beauty they brought to the public. It's to bad that fashion today does not produce the beauty that these women had because their type of beauty will always stay in the history books of fashion and become time honored women who set a trend that is to stay forever.

Grace la bellezza e la delicatezza di un angelo. La perfezione di una dea. Una classe impareggiabile. A differenza di Audrey, Grace possedeva una grazia un portamento ed una regalità che nessun'altra ha mai avuto nella storia.

Audrey was lovely, full of kindness and she dedicated her life to the Children having been a testimonial UNICEF. But Grace Kelly was a very charitable woman, with a real sensitive heart. She had always nice words and attitudes towards everybody. She shone of her own, like her style and class. She was extremely beautiful in and out. Audrey is graceful, but Grace is the epitome of the heavenly grace. She was the personification of good kindness, she was understanding, she was a gift the only one!!
