A real tragedy, but what's also very freaky is that Grace who was known to not be a very good driver, drove this very same route in her classic movie, "To Catch A Thief"...with her friend the late great Cary Grant. In a scene from that movie, she's doing the driving with Cary in a little sports car and she's driving real fast and he says to her "Where do you think you're going?" and she answers ' To the cemetery"!!!...most people don't know this or remember that eerie scene. FACTS!!

They say it’s scenic, but during this drive I witnessed at times a sense of claustrophobia with the narrow road, then such open curves, on edges of a cliff, that you have to wonder if the designer of this roadway was designing it for humans to drive it, to be able to navigate it safely at all times, or if they only thought of the money they would make supplying it. If I had to drive it every day, I would fight a headache every day. Such a sad roadway I never want to see again. Grace Kelly is sorely missed. May she Rest In Peace. 💐💐💐

It has been 35 years since Princess Grace's untimely death at 52. She would have been 88 this year, and still beautiful, I am certain. Ironically, her funeral was the first event Princess Diana went to on her own, representing Queen Elizabeth. Fifteen years later, she, too, died young in a car accident in France, after a very difficult marriage, as Grace often had with Rainier. Yet Rainier loved her, and Diana and Charles were finally friends at the time of her death. The parallels between these two beautiful women who married into royalty are interesting, and sad.

Apparently, Princess Grace had been at Diana and Charles' engagement party at Goldsmith Hall. She noted a very jittery Diana, went up to her and gently asked, "need a moment, Dear?" They went to the powder room, where Diana poured her heart out to Grace. Grace, although a maternal-like presence, told Diana not to worry, "it will only get worse". I remember feeling a chill after reading that.

We tend to see Royalty and Hollywood as the treasured life. It's what we're told is the accepted, the expected, the best, the proven dna perfection. Nothing less is acceptable. Grace Kelly, along with Jackie O, were from very effluent families. They were American Royalty. I can't imagine the pressure that JFK jr. or Stephanie lived under. A child loves their parent no matter how bad their world is. Stephanie and Jr. were rebels. They wanted to be outside the grain of expected perfection. Kinda where we're at today. In a convertible, top down, going down the highway with tight curves and bends in thr road. Two things are with us. Someone we love, and the expensive clothes we use to say who we are. Who wins. A mother cant protect her child if she's not alive. We think about that no matter how old we get. And, trust me. We'd much rather go over the cliff, then our children.

Such a tragic death for a beautiful and well loved Princess. She should have let her chauffer drove the car for them. It was a steep and tricky road. Based on ny research she suffered a stroke that's why she lost control of the car. There was even a rumor that according to her daughter who was with her during the accident that her mother was shouting she had no brakes and might have stepped on the accelarator instead of the brake. It was such a big news then. My mother was a great fan of her . In fact I was named "Gracia" after her.

I remember this altho I was very young. I remember the press being so rude and mean to Stephanie before this even happened. What a terrible thing to go thru. She was so pretty and I respect that her family was more important than selfish fame. I cant imagine driving that road at nite in the rain!

Why she drove a car? Where was her driver and bodyguard??? maybe she would be alive until today....
@FrankJacobsTV7 жыл бұрын
They left the driver home because the rear seat was loaded with Stéphanie's clothes.

Stephanie was on her way to Paris and thus the rear seat was loaded with her clothes.

The fact that even in the 1980s she could go somewhere with bodyguards and security vehicles is surprising.

Was living in Germany when she died. Remember where I was when news broke. Also remember the winding roads.

I wouldn’t ever want to drive that road. Think of rain, fog, night, oncoming traffic, deer. You could do it a thousand times but it would never be safe. So sad.

I was on that road a few years before their accident.

Looks like they changed the spot so it has a safety road now, instead of just plunging off a cliff.

Why, Why ,Why, Such VIP ROYAL was behind the wheel on such DANGEROUS ROAD,... SHE SHOULD HAVE A SHAFFER at ALL TIMES.
@FrankJacobsTV4 жыл бұрын
She usually did, but since the car was full with Stephanie's things, the driver was left behind in their weekend resort.

Great video and drive, but this was not the bend where she crashed. It's one further down. There is a road and houses at the bottom. Very different.

I think the accident took place at the next right curve. We can see that curve from 14:07 to 14:18. Anyways nice video!

Is it an one way system? You didn't meet a single car coming in the opposite direction
@FrankJacobsTV4 жыл бұрын
That must be coincidential. It is two way.

Actually the exact location of the accident occured at the next right turn (the one with the bilding rocks on the left) as we can see in many photos. It's the turn with the house below where the car stopped after the fall! Very good video though www.motorious.com/articles/features/348633/was-grace-kellys-rover-p6-really-sabotaged
