I recently stumbled upon this touching and haunting-like song by a truly talented musician. While the words are very easy to hear and understand, they can be interpreted by each individual in a different way. The intimate setting, dim lighting, darkness in the room, along with the fact that there are no other instruments or audience just adds to the beauty of her voice and piano playing. We’ve all been through a time in our lives that can make us relate to this song. At some point we’ve had to ‘release’ and let go someone we loved immensely, and these lyrics say it all! I’m 67 years old now and was a trained classical pianist and organist since I was 5. As a result, I’m extremely critical about music - no matter what genre it falls into - but this is one video that I can play every day, and each time I do it brings tears to my eyes. I can feel her pain and loss, as well as my own. It’s a shame that this hasn’t been ‘discovered’ by more people than it has been, and given the recognition it deserves! *** I’ve watched some of Grace’s’ other videos, and she plays and sings from within her heart and soul, often bringing tears to her own eyes as she does. That’s what I consider is ‘bringing music to life’, vs just playing keys or strings on an instrument!

Well, today I can tell the story. Couldn't do that 3 days ago. I'm not a native speaker, living in Germany...so allow some hitches and glitches in my english. There's a good friend of mine near Dallas TX, a lady of 60+, former rock singer. She doesn't sing no more, but teaches music to young people. Singing, piano, theory, sight reading, she still writes songs...just what a musician does after beeing on stage so long and lost the urge to sing. She sent me a message, her former lover passed away 3 weeks ago. They didn't live together anymore, due to his alcoholism, they were separated but she still loved him dearly until his very end, secretly. And although she thought she'd be done with all this, she was down. And out. And so we spoke. And I said, I'll send her some songs that I discovered a few days before (I knew Grace just from her fabulous "I shall be released" rendition). So I sent her 2 songs - Larkin Poe's cover of Garth Brook's "The Dance", and Grace's "Release". And then she sent in her messenger "Tears fallin' like a flood". And I answered: "That's what they are for. Let go!". And today she sent messages, that she feels much better, and the songs I sent to her were the reason and helped her to overcome all this grieve. And that's what meant with "Music is a healer" 3 days ago. Thank you so much for this wonderful song, Grace, also in the name of our not named musician collegue. Addition: I'm a blues harmonica player since about 40, 45 years. I know what power real music can have.

I find myself all teary eyed whenever I play this song. Grace’s raw vulnerability is really on full display in this song. That is what I connect with so strongly. It should also be noted that she is among the best live musicians I have been blessed to witness in person. I’ll never forget how she completely stole the spotlight as the opening act for Ben Harper and the Relentless 7. Thank you, Grace for coming to Toronto all those years ago.

so spiritually Filled with love and inspiration....Reminds me of singing to my late sis...that passed away from Breast cancel over a year ago...It still touches me, that smile...that cry out..I release you..my bright sunflower of sassafrass and warm hellos
Thank U for this wonderful song . The words are powerful. I recently went through a break up. We all want forever when we enter into a relationship. When it ends the love we feel doesn't end. This song sums up how I felt. I needed to find a way to let her go in my heart. I sent this song to her. We both needed to release.

My husband released me not through his will, but from a brain tumor, and no bridges were burned. So it's backwards. Maybe one day when the sun shines again I can release him too. Not yet, though. Grace. I recently discovered you and your beautiful soul and lyrics. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

This is one of those songs that if you were driving when it came on for the first time, you'd have to pull over just to listen to each word of it. "Even if I'm in your arms, even if you touched my skin, I could never change my heart after being where it's been" Spot on and gets me every.single.time. Thank you so much, Grace for sharing your talent and passion with us. I hope some day we'll both be free. ♥
