Broh, i'm gonna be honest with u. this is the BEST REACTION i've ever heard! and i've watched everu single one of them.... u r the 1st who is really able to explain WHY she is so special, so unique, so .... U r a musician, u r witty, u've got a beautiful voice. AND u dare to express the "absurdly" emotional appeal of the voice and the song of a 12 Y O GIRL!!!! I'd love to hear ur reaction to her other AGT songs: Beautiful Thing, Light the Sky and Clay. ( in this order). She wrote the last 2 in 3 weeks specially for AGT.

I am no musician, but I like to think I can appreciate talent when I hear it and see it. Two things you said struck a chord with me: Grace's ability to correct herself and keep on going no matter what (which I commented on in some of her other live KZbin performances) and her ability to shift chords and rhythms at will, in order to give a special effect to the song. This surely takes a very special talent, and would be very easy to screw up if you didn't have total confidence in what you were doing...

Nice to hear another musician's opinion. I am left stupefied each time I hear someone say she is a no-talent. I've never been so gobsmacked and sucked in by a television talent show winner. I can't figure how there is even one person on this planet who doesn't recognize this girl has been gifted with talents not often seen. .... Anyway, great reaction, and hope you've had a chance to view some of her other offerings. Cheers!

Quoting from Rolling Stone, Producer Greg Wells recalls of working with VanderWaal on Perfectly Imperfect.” I wasn't sure what I was walking into by working with Grace in the studio. It was her first time ever in a proper recording studio and I envisioned several different potential horror stories. Within the first 10 minutes of working on music together, I was happily surprised to find that I was working with a real artist who could speak the language of record making." There were many times in our recording sessions when Grace would suggest an idea that I wasn't sure would work, but as soon as we tried it, it made the song better," he says of her musical intuition. "That's a skill that takes most of us years to hone and develop, yet somehow this was pouring out of her at age 12 during her first time in the studio." So her talent just not only as a song writer & singer

I agree with a number of the comments to your reaction video, the fact that you really know what you are talking about and come over as so sincere makes this the finest such video I have seen on Vanderwaal's performances. She (Grace) has a sense of rhythm, song construction, melody and unusual lyric that many musicians take a lifetime to learn and still don't get right, she seems to have these skills wired into her brain. I think this is why so many in the business think she is something very special. I have subscribed to your site because I respect you opinion which is not just fan worship like many other reaction videos.

Excellent reaction, Grace is a remarkable talent. You commented on mistakes she made while performing, and that could be because an entire verse was cut for time restraints; that verse really made the song complete.
@djmoon8373
@djmoon8373 4 жыл бұрын
Your correct about the verse being cut due to time restraints. However I believe what he's referring to is when she sings the line, "I am lost, trying to get found.." Between "lost" and "trying", she has a tiny slip where she almost starts the wrong verse. It was minor, and is certainly not surprising considering the circumstances. Now with that being said, I'll take your thought one further, by stating that in addition to cutting a verse to to time restraint, that what's more impressive is that she wasn't even suppose to be auditioning with one of her own songs. AGT didn't want her to, and she had a couple other songs prepared for audition, including "ex's & oh's" which she performed previous to auditions on one of her KZbin cover videos,(also a song she performs better than the original,then again, when has she ever done a cover that wasn't?).

I respect your ability to technically analyse her musicality. I can't, but I understand writing. She is way beyond her years. She has a high social IQ.

awesome review, couldn't have said it better. I just hope now with Grace being under a record label and around contract producers they don't fuck up her voice and style of music to make it sound more "main stream." That inculdes teaching her how to fix her mistakes. Because in my opinion those mistakes ironically makes her a better singer.

Love the reaction to this video. I honestly think the mess ups though was because she was trying to get a 3 minute song down into a 90 second song and really wasn't ready for it being a 12 yr old. Excellent review. I assume you know that Grace won AGT. She sang originals all the way through, and each one got better than the last. Her EP album, "Perfectly Imperfect," is being released on December 2nd, but pre-sales have begun on Amazon, and looks like it's already breaking into Amazon's top 100. Will undoubtedly make platinum.

Sargoss Golek Right, and I have my doubts that these folks are watching the videos for the first time. I think the only authentic one I ever watched was a husband taking a video of his wife watching AGT on TV when Grace was announced the winner. I think he was kinda lukewarm about Grace, but his wife was a certifiable Grace-nut like us and was bouncing off the walls waiting for Nick Cannon to speak the words. Pretty funny. I thought she was going to do a cartwheel when Grace won.

Excellent analysis. I hope you plan on reacting (or just listening) to some of her other work. This particular song has special significance because it began her journey to fame. Because of AGT's time constraints, however, verses were deleted from the song and the tempo was accelerated. The full studio version is on her VEVO channel as a lyric video. You might like to review the other original songs that led to her winning AGT. Each one, IMO, was better than the previous ones (again, these all had to be shortened versions). Other original songs and covers can be found on her YT channel, "Oh never mind, it's just me." I especially recommend her originals, "Gossip Girl, "The Good Just Gets Better," and "Miss You," and her cover of Elle's "Ex's & Oh's." If she continues to pursue her music, she will be one of the greats.

This is definately the most honest and knowledgeable of all the reactions to Grace Vanderwaal I have seen. Would love to see your reaction to her other songs. There are in fact a glut of youngsters who have emerged onto the scene in the last few years who I for one am impressed with, on the popular genre only, there are youngsters like Angelina Jordan, Connie Talbot and Krisia & Tereza Todorova (not related) all are a cut above the normal. If you ever have the time would love to hear your analysis. Just a rider on this Talbot (10 years ago on Britain got talent but grown up now) so see as she is now, Jordan is a jazz singer winner of Norway Got Talent and the two from Bulgaria, both first appeared on the Slavishow on TV have amazing stage presence for kids of that age. This is just the girls of course because the boys really have to wait till they get through that awkward time in early teens.

J.Michael Nolan, No i simply did not list those outside the popular/jazz genre. Yes I could mention Amira (who I believe to possess the most beautiful voice on the planet), then there is Sterre Van Boxtel and pure geniuses like Alma Deutscher. Because I have a history of participating in the record industry (an awful long time ago) I have a keen interest in watching the career development of these youngsters. In fact I follow the careers of some 40 youngsters across all genres.

Great review and breakdown of Amazing Grace's performance. I will say there is one part where it seem like she messed up but it's actually that they only have 90 second to perform which means the performer has to cut the song. In her case it's right after she's says "please don't ask me any questions". Anyway great job again on you reaction and analysis. if you want to hear the full dong it's on her channel and I believe on the AGT KZbin channel.

Sargoss Golek It's amazing how you can remember some things verbatim after many years. Dad said that to me over 60 years ago. He was a fine musician, although he made most of his money in business. Thanks for the great reaction vid! Very informative! As others have said, I hope you can react to her other 3 AGT performances, especially if you haven't seen them yet! Something that struck me: I didn't hear you once comment on the actual lyric content. That to me is telling because at first I understood little of what she said and was completely drawn in to her talent and persona despite that. Of course I was even more impressed after I read her lyrics! Question for you: when you react to a musician do you normally react to the lyric part last, or are your "reaction points" different for every musician? You've made a subscriber out of me!

Ed Goudreau hey Ed, I also am HUGE on lyrics. I will start adding that in at the end, now that you brought it up. I just feel from a musician perspective, I need to show that parts of music the untrained ear might not pick up on their own. but I should definitely make reference to lyrics as well.

Thanks for the reply. My comment about the lyrics was absolutely no knock on you. To the contrary I was very impressed with your commenting on all the other nuances. When I ask people what they think of Grace's music, their first reaction is often not being able to make out her lyrics. In contrast, I was completely drawn to other aspects of her musicianship, some of which I could not verbalize until you made them clear. Guess I'll need to show my doubter friends your reaction vid!

Hello IAM.. I've waited a year almost for *any* follow-up review of *any* of Grace Vanderwaal's performance's and you've been silent. Sad to say that you have a life to live and in the meantime let so many people down without a follow-up to her music and performances. Best wishes for a good life, can't take waiting for you anymore. Bye

Great reactions!! Always learn something. You need to react to " Clearly" Grace Vanderwaals newest video. Not the live one, the video. I liked your take on Moonlight.

I trust that you recognize that your reactions to Grace VanderWaal are among your more popular ones. We GVW fans are persistent we search for these reactions. Now that I have gone through the entire group of videos available in your channel, I see that I may have been a bit hasty. There was a period in your posting when you had many popular posts. So clearly you have learned what makes a popular post. I assume that your more recent posts demonstrates a personal artistic choice to go with what moves you and not what brings you more views. So I guess I won't be able to convince you to do more Grace VanderWaal posts by appealing to a desire for more views. So I am just going to say that any Grace VanderWaal reactions you do will be appreciated. I might suggest that rather than checking out her newer efforts, you follow her journey through AGT first. These early efforts are more pure Grace and less "enhanced" Grace. But any Grace would be welcome.

Hey, I think you would really like Pentatonix, an acapella band with two grammy wins. Try their Daftpunk medley or these two originals, Can't Sleep Love, Sing.

The tripped up part was the part they removed from her song to make the 90 second time-limit. She had to remember to leave out that part of her song. And she's now opening for Imagine Dragons. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nIfRdWCgYqtlhs0

Please do take a look at Grace's other KZbin songs from AGT. Your analysis was amazing and sincerely hope you you will check out and react to some of them as well. Nice professional, best reaction. I've subscribed and thumb's-up'ed your 'Tube. Her "short" studio album is out December 2nd. !
