she can sing, she can write great songs, she can play the ukulele. people don't talk enough about how much courage this has taken on her part. even the idea of doing originals was so risky, could have chosen an easier way, but didn't. i really applaud her courage and if you don't think she was nervous....ask her or watch her hands shaking after these live performances.

Is she flawed? Yes. Could she improve? Yes. But that's the point. She's 12, she sings better than most adults, she writes original songs, she has an amazing personality, and she has a star quality that separates her from other contestants. Her raw potential is what makes her so great. She's magic.

This is what I have to say. I don't think music is about having a perfect voice, or not missing a note, or a crazy shredding guitar solo. Its about turning raw emotion into sound. Its about moving someone with instruments, lyrics, tone, and melody. That's exactly what she does. If someones vocal performance is perfect, it doesnt mean I am going to actually listen to their actual music. I am 36 years old and I actually listen to Grace's music. And that's what it is about.

For people claiming she has a flawed voice, you're right she does, but that's part of the charm, when her voice croaks and she powers through at just the right moment and the crowd goes wild, it shows emotion and passion for what she's doing. Singers with voices that aren't necessarily perfect often end up being even better than singers which don't really have noticeable flaws, character is ultimately a lot more interesting than perfection.

I bet you if they were competing with Grace they still wouldn't win. When they competed there were obviously others who won the crowd's and the judge's favor, hence the outcome. This year Grace just happened to be one of those lucky ones.

nobody hate 12 years old kid but if you rewind the tape previous years and even this year you will see kids at her age or younger with lots of talent much better than her they never win did you ask yourself why? I tell you why don't get me wrong. there are few possible reasons. 1st a lot people supporters voted for her multiple times which is illegal 2nd she win by popularity which is wrong also 3rd Howie Mandel push the wrong golden buzzer for her and put other contestants down to make sure she's gone win 4th maybe she got some high relative up there. I don't say she's not talented her talent is average but not 1M $ Howie Mandel was right from nothing he make something
@Ephem13
@Ephem13 8 жыл бұрын
Did you just make all that up? Illegal to vote multiple times? According to AGT you could vote 10 times per act, per email address with no limits on votes per person. Popularity is the basis of the show. How popular a contestant is among viewers is how they decide who wins. Does the most talented person win every year? Well of course not, but every winner has been highly talented so the idea they don't deserve the winnings is just silly. Your whole spiel about Howie, you made all of that up. None of what you said made any sense and in no way relates to what he himself said. Ohh, and hit the wrong golden buzzer, what the hell does that even mean? There is only one golden buzzer and each judge can only use it once per season so how could he hit the wrong one? Her being related to or knowing a person on the show, the man that owns the production company that made the show was sitting right there, Simon Cowell, and he was a fan of her. He's also the man that picks the judges, pays for the concerts and basically everything else. I'm also willing to say I bet he offered her a record deal.

Grace never ceases to live up to our expectations no matter what she is doing. Whether it is her songwriting, beautiful lyrics, singing her heart out, her exuberant performances, her statuesque modeling, her quirky costumes, her antics on the social media, her interviews and now, her acting. She has always made her fans seem like family and what we see is what we get, the true honest personna of Grace Vanderwaal.

It's funny you said that "the flaws in her voice." In the 60s I never heard anyone say the flaws in Dylan's voice or the flaws in Harrison's voice. If Grace makes a 100 million on her songs do you think anyone will say she did so well for a girl with flaws in her voice? Just funnin'

How many times have one or any of her songs played on a loop in your head? Songs she performed were immediately marketable. How often does that happen? Rarely. That's the career maker. What she delivers in performance is emotionally centered on the particular lyric and she delivers the dynamic of communicating her feelings 100% with no ego to hold her in check. I love her voice, one you want to hear again and again, and where it may be croaky at times, nonetheless, it is pitch perfect. Her openness is altogether refreshing and combined with her talent produces one of the most charismatic artists of the day. I hope she rides out the plethora of public appearances with a stubbornness to remain true to her young self. I think you're brilliant Grace. I wish you all the success in music, and in living life , that you can handle.

For me , this is the first time I saw Grace perform in the finals. Only saw the audition and thought " great song for a 12 year old . The song stuck with me , I sung and whistled it all the time. And now this .3 songs that exposed this enormous talent . This is no 12 year old . How is this possible .She writes poetry in a way everybody can understand .Beautiful lyrics with real depth. Surprising songs and than that hoarse voice , like she's been smoking and boozing all her life. Of course she's not , before you lynch me here. It's a great vehicle for her songs and the fact she sings her own things accompanied by that little ukulele says it all . About her will to do it her way . She's no second nobody , she's the first Grace van Der Waal. I'm 65 years old , grew up on rock and soul and always loved music. This little woman has the talent to reach stardom . She will shine .

We're similar ages and this surprises me that all the great singers there were in our life time that sang with what you call "hoarse" (others refer to as "Raspy") you consider it a fault. This is like saying Bruce Springsteen, Bryan Adams, Rod Stewart, Tina Turner, Kim Carnes, Stevie Nicks and many others had great songs but too bad they had "hoarse" voices
@JmanTheVanderwaalFan

I don't quite hear that in her voice, but I think I understand what you mean. Her voice was raw, unpolished, not seasoned, not trained, and not a "professional: sound, if you will. I'll be honest with you for a moment, Beautiful thing, the second song she performs, I believe is the most beautiful song ever written, and in my personal opinion, take her voice out of the equation, especially on the EP version, it literally looses 75% of what makes it so beautiful, but somehow, it is still the most beautiful song ever written. The crazy part, she wrote it at 12, TWELVE, how retarded is that, I can barely write my name, and she could write like that at 12???? This girl is a beautiful soul and as is with all geniuses, she is misunderstood. That right there prove the genius status.
@caltoo2717
@caltoo2717 2 жыл бұрын
@@JmanTheVanderwaalFan I think you should have mention she developed further to the EP version which is one of the most beautiful love songs ever recorded. It is a beautiful song here but reached that status after it was recorded. I was surprised he said "for a 12 year" like it's normal for 12 year old to compose songs at this level

What an incredibe talent to write, and sing her own songs in front of audiences all over the world. I heard she was a huge hit in Japan. It just goes to show that diamonds in the rough actually exist that shine the brightest. Since her first audition Grace has been on countless talk shows, award shows, television spots, and soon will get her own concert once she has written enough songs. It’s not enough that Grace wrote the songs she sang ,everybody else had a gimmick ,but with Grace it’s just her and she stood out amongst everybody else because with Grace that’s all you get and that’s why she won. She wrote and sang those heart felt songs. I’ve heard Grace sing these four songs many times since she won, but never like she did on A.G.T. Except for when she sang Clay on Jimmy Fallon,She sang her heart out on the show. I watch a lot of A.G.T. Videos on u tube but always come back to these four incredible songs. If Grace was 20 Y/o when this happened she would have been the biggest star of the decade but she was only 12 way to young . She’s 16 now so about 2 to 3 more years Grace will be the biggest star of the 21 century . Can hardly wait.

There's a lot of armchair critics out there. Take a year, learn to play the ukulele, write ORIGINAL songs and get your ass on stage. If you win then you can comment. This is a talent competition, not a karaoke competition. Grace has talent coming out of every pore of her body. She deserves the win. She's fantastic.

Nailed it John M. The armchair critics could learn a ton walking on that stage with those judges, listen again , she had the audience in her pocket from the second line.
