I don't think they believed him. It seems to me that they were a rather clueless bunch who, until the end, expected Jesus to lead a revolution against the Roman occupation and become an earthly king of a liberated Israel. I honestly think that a lot of his purely spiritual notions went right over their heads. Matthew seems to be the only one that was highly educated. It seems to have been the Holy Spirit at Pentecost who filled them with wisdom and understanding, which was implanted in them by grace as a gift.

How did the disciples recognize Moses and Elijah? So i think theres a conversation that happens before Peter talking about building tabbernacles. I think we got a small glimpse at what must have been an incredible situation.

That was perhaps the real reason why this meeting happened. God showed us all that his plan was intended this way from the beginning. Through all of history we can now see that the world, the people, the kingdom that is still invisible to us is flooded, and that it was created solely for the purpose of recognizing God's plan of salvation. No matter what evil plans, does, or has in mind, God's plan, Jesus' way is better, bigger, more correct, more saving, more fulfilling and only he gives us peace in the darkest of times. I praise and praise our Creator, the Father in heaven, our Savior Jesus Christ and our Teacher and Comforter the Holy Spirit for all eternity amen. Oh, listen Israel, finally understand the Lord and God are one. The reason why Elijah and Moses stood with Christ is because they witnessed that Christ was God’s New Covenant-Jesus Christ that’s why He told them the 3 that witnessed it to wait until He resurrected…cause the Covenant would be fulfilled….The reason why Moses and Elijah was there because Jesus Christ transfiguration joined The Law--Moses and The prophets--Elijah…That’s why they were present to witness God’s New Covenant with all people equally….But these two Elijah and Moses is God’s super witnesses and messengers of the people…They will make an appearance again during The Great Tribulation to warn people to turn to God and accept Christ….Also Moses and Elijah both drew power directly from Heaven to do God’s Will with concern of human kind…These two Super Witnesses and Messengers of the people can already Do the Will of God as well as protect themselves….Revelation 11:3-14 It isn’t told who the witnesses are but the hints are given….Elijah has the ability to blow fire from his mouth and Moses has the ability to bring plagues on humankind so we really don’t need to know their names if you know Scripture we know who they are…. Jesus’s Transfiguration represents what will occur to everyone that receives salvation when they are translated to heaven. Moses represents everyone that experiences death but will be raised again by the grace and power of God. Elijah, represents every one that has not died yet but is still alive right at the time of the second coming of Jesus Christ to this earth!

A miraculous incident, and it is my obligation to say it and others have the right to know,I am from Qatar, and I saw the image of Christ on the ceiling of my room, where He manifested April 2016 His face is a little long, white and beautiful, light beard, head hair lies on top shoulders. The eyes are sharp, and beautiful features resemble the people of the Middle East, The picture was very super clear, which astonished and surprised me. At first I was asleep and suddenly woke up to bear witness to the situation,I thought there is some likeness in the very slight of my friend , but a quick inspiration came to me.
