Luke 2:36-38 There was also a prophet, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old; she had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, and then was a widow until she was eighty-four.[*] She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying. Coming up to them at that very moment, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem.

Deborah was most certainly not the only female prophetess in the Bible. Sarah - the wife of Abraham was known as a prophetess. Miriam - the sister of Moses was known as a prophetess among others. Having said that, I don't recall many in-depth teachings regarding the life of Deborah so I do look forward to watching this documentary. Thank you for contributing to this most compelling subject.

no it's not. no mention of flash flood in this story: Judges 4:10-16 Tree of Life Version 10 Then Barak summoned Zebulun and Naphtali together to Kedesh, and 10,000 men marched up after him, and Deborah went up with him. 11 Now Heber the Kenite had separated himself from the Kenites, from the children of Hobab the father-in-law of Moses, and had pitched his tent as far as the oak in Zaanannim, which is near Kedesh. 12 They told Sisera that Barak son of Abinoam had gone up to Mount Tabor. 13 So Sisera ordered all his chariots-900 iron chariots-and all the troops that were with him, from Harosheth-ha-goyim to the Kishon. 14 Then Deborah said to Barak, “Arise! For this is the day in which Adonai will deliver Sisera into your hand. Has Adonai not gone out before you?” So Barak came down from Mount Tabor with 10,000 men following him. 15 Adonai threw Sisera and all his chariots and all his army into confusion before Barak with the edge of the sword. Then Sisera got down from his chariot and fled away on foot. 16 But Barak pursued the chariots and the army as far as Harosheth-ha-goyim. The whole army of Sisera fell by the sword; not one was left.

▪️Deborah was a mighty woman of God, known for her unwavering, and uncompromising faith, her allegiance and obedience to God, and for her wisdom and impeccable integrity. That’s why God chose her above all the men of her time. ▪️Her life and testimony destroys the chauvinistic view that God does not use women in leadership roles. ▪️There are other female prophets besides Deborah that are also mentioned in the Bible, yet you rarely hear pastors preach or teach about how God used these dedicated and faithful women in His plan of salvation. ▪️Deborah’s life is an example of how God will use ANYONE who is obedient to Him and submits to the powerful leading of His Holy Spirit. Amen.

There are a few exceptions and Im not discounting Deborah and few others, however as a general rule Men are the strong and wise and not up to the tasks of maternity, giving birth and nurturing that God has bestowed upon women. Too many woman negating these attributes and too many men allowing it will only serve to delight Satan. Praise be to God.

Correct, I forget who's document I was reading. However, it listed a number of female prophets from the Old Testament to the New Testament, some of which were quite surprising. I also found out in that reading that Sarah, the wife of Abraham from was regarded as a prophetess as well. There were scriptural references for each person that they listed as well in this document. Thanks so much for your comment because I had forgotten the exact number. @jstarzz3780

I normally enjoy these, but there are so many errors I can't get past in this. First, Israel wasn't authorized to choose a prophet. No human (male or female) has the authority to choose a legit prophet. Only God does. Anyone who wants to challenge Him on that can do so at their own risk. Second, Deborah was the only female judge; but Scripture has named anywhere from four up to nine female prophets (depending on one's definition of the word). Last, Scripture doesn't promote or denounce women. It doesn't progress or regress. It doesn't change. Scripture is inspired by the Spirit of God. We're like specks of dust in the grand scheme. What's one speck over another? Just because He cares about dust doesn't change what we are. I like Deborah. She was protective, fair, brave, and stepped up when a seasoned general wouldn't. But that doesn't imply anything else. The flavour of this message is unscriptural but I still like this channel. Usually, it's spot on. And everyone has off days.
@barbellenoregon10 ай бұрын
@MaryDunford - 100% correct: "Israel wasn't authorized to choose a prophet. No human (male or female) has the authority to choose a legit prophet. Only God does. Anyone who wants to challenge Him on that can do so at their own risk.". Well said!
@72Yonatan10 ай бұрын
You are correct that the people did not choose a prophet. Judges were another matter. There are seven female prophets mentioned by name in scripture: Sarah, Miriam, Dvorah, Hannah, Avigayil, Hulda, and Esther. But all of the people at the revelation at Sinai heard the first two commandments each one individually. There are therefore many prophets who were never mentioned in Hebrew scripture.

Praise Yahweh for Deborah, it’s very important to show the true image of Deborah, which was a black Hebrew Israelite woman. Israel sinned against Yahweh, which brought upon their own struggles just as we do today. We must all repent and study to show yourself approved.
@richardthelion899010 ай бұрын
Why do you bing in color? Does Jehovah declare Deborah to be black? Who cares... This is why we have so much division and confusion in the world. The Lord does not separate the colors of the rainbow, which all come from one source, the Light of God, the Messiah of the Lord God, who brings light into the hearts of men. Deborah delicates much of her closing statement and testimony to the importance of leadership and unity. Enough screaming black, white, yellow, brown, pale, pink, and invisible. We are all one in Christ, and our blood is the same color.
