i love triangles from the mount and i love both of these setups and have hit them since way back in my white belt days. for me it's like the same triangle setup from guard with the overhook (which i also like) where you can push the arm out and pull the leg up and through or you can push the hand between your legs and swing your leg wide and clear the arm that way. the beauty of the 2 setups (either from guard or mount, same principle) is that you can go back and forth between threatening the 2 making the whole setup more effective.

Pinning the arm out didn't work for me, pinning it to the chest worked, direct flight.
@jazzy7777 жыл бұрын
I agree. As soon as he pins the arm he sets his base off and the guy on bottom can easily lift left arm and escape or simply move the supporting arm and escape. Direct flight gets my vote.
@GalenSD7 жыл бұрын
jazzy777 doesn't the pinned arm become part of the base? If you have pressure on that arm it isn't going to be easily lifted or moved around.
@jazzy7777 жыл бұрын
GalenSD Valid point but if you check 5:24 until the supporting arm is in position the base is not set and therefore the trapped arm lifted with ease and because the top guys position is already set at an angle I believe it would be easy to roll into either top mount or side control from the bottom position. Those are my thoughts and observations anyway.
@GalenSD7 жыл бұрын
jazzy777 True, it's definitly a timing thing. If you're not on point you're going to get tipped if you don't switch the base simultaneously. Both methods are effective in their own situation.
@jazzy7777 жыл бұрын
Fair point. I suppose I prefer the Rickson Gracie mindset of never leaving yourself exposed to reversal or loss of control, particularly during the stages of transition. If you haven't seen it already check out the clip of Eddie bravo and joe rogan showing Rickson rubber guard. It's fascinating. 👍
