COLLEGE DAY IN MY LIFE: covid testing, errands, online school, church

Hey, y'all. I just want to apologize for anything that came off the wrong way. This vlog is from NOVEMBER 4th (aka the day after election day) & nowhere near official results had been called. So please stop saying that I was sad because of the results. These comments are making me very upset, and I understand that much of it has to do with the way I came off to y'all in the car clip, so I apologize that I didn't catch that what I was saying could be taken any other way than I meant it. I will not be defending myself any longer. I also will not ever be getting political here. So if you don't agree with that, I am so sorry. But I do not feel as though it is my place to "influence" you in that way, nor do I want it to be. Even just the past 45 minutes of me replying to these comments have made me so disheartened. I will not be further addressing anything. I am so sorry that I cannot please everyone and I appreciate all of the kind comments from the people who understood what I was trying to say. Let's continue to keep this channel the positive and loving one I know you all subscribed to! I love y'all so much.

I know it might be uncomfortable, but Covid testing often is so important to stop the spread and protect those around us! Testing negative previously doesn't really mean anything, it doesn't guarantee that you will stay that way, especially if you are spending time with others indoors, going to restaurants, etc. My school in Boston tests every student 2x a week -- might sound like a lot but it has helped us stay safe and catch cases really early so that it doesn't exacerbate the problem.

As a POC it’s important to acknowledge your privilege that you are able to ignore the election because the outcome doesn’t affect your experiences with racism or xenophobia. I get that the election is stressful for everyone but ignoring it is still a privilege and acknowledging that on your platform is important.

Hi Rachel, I apologize for not addressing this. Yes, I do know that I am privileged and I really do acknowledge that and I should have done so in the video! But, I want to make it clear that I didn't ignore the election. I was very active with the news and up-to-date with what was going on, even if I wasn't posting about it. The part that I was choosing not to view was purely hateful comments and arguments I was seeing on social media, most of which were truly baseless. I do sincerely want to thank you for pointing out that I failed to acknowledge my privilege in my video to me!

Hey Gracie, I love your videos, and it is super inspirational how productive you are! I just wanted to provide a bit of constructive criticism for the future, as I think some comments you made have rubbed people the wrong way, even though you probably didn't mean to. Saying that you can "look away" from the election, "stay off social media", and so on, is a privilege and is something that should be acknowledged. Because minority groups like POC, LGBTQIA+ community, families that have been split apart on the border, and so on, don't get to look away from the election, they don't get to just try and stay happy and positive. People are rightfully angry, upset and fighting, because their human rights can very well be taken away depending on the outcome. The ability to "stay out of politics" is a privilege in and of itself, because that means that what's at stake does not effect you. I hope you understand where people are coming from. Everyone is learning, and I hope you can too!

Hi! Thank you for this!! I really do appreciate it when you guys educate me on things! However, I think I just came across different to everyone then how I meant it when I was filming and editing this video (or else I would never have included it in order to not make people feel this way). I was really just trying to say that I don't feel like it is my place to engage in political conversations over social media, as I have always found them to be more destructive than constructive. But, that doesn't mean I wasn't following all of the news surrounding the election or doing my own civic duty by voting and using my vote to induce change! I am continually learning, and I thank you again for pointing this out.

I feel you on the detox from social media related to the hate regarding the election. I deactivated my FB and Instagram for the first time late last week because of the anxiety it was causing me, and like you I don’t get involved, nothing was directed to/at me, nor do I ever voice any opinions regarding politics myself. I just don’t like the negativity and the fights that happen between not only strangers, but people who have been life-long friends who now will probably never speak again, and for what? It’s just not worth it to me, so for my mental health I had to check out until a time in the future when things get back to a somewhat normal state. So, all that to say I understand how you feel about that, and I support you and encourage you to take care of you first and foremost. On a brighter note...my husband is from Tuscaloosa and his parents still live there, and when we visit, Taco Mama is our first and usually last stop. Love it!! Hope you have a great week!
