Thank you 🙏🙏🙏 for your videos!! Just got accepted and wanted to know more about the program. Would be very interested on your thoughts/experiences so far! Ex: how small/big are your classes, how closely you can connect with prof, opportunities to work part-time/do research, rigor compared to your undergrad background, what made you ultimately choose yale over other schools (if applicable), social life, any aspects you love or dislike about the program?

Omg congratulations that is so exciting! I will try my best to answer your questions as concisely as possible. My core classes last semester (eg. Epi, biostats, health policy) that are required of all MPH students to graduate were large- this is similar to most if not all programs across institutions. This semester I have more electives and those are smaller ranging from 30-60 students depending on the popularity of it! There are a ton of opportunities to connect with professors both in your department and out. Some of these opportunities are brought to you through seminar courses, others you seek out from attending events or you can get connected through your professors/advisor. All of these can help lead to opportunities for practicum projects, thesis projects or RAships. Social life is great, I'm sure you can get a glimpse of it through my videos- there is never a lack of anything to do socially you just need to find the right balance that works for you. I applied to several different programs and was blessed with more options than I anticipated- but ultimately I chose Yale for their focus on Health Policy whereas most programs had their focus as a combination of Health policy and health care management. I also really liked the multidisciplinary nature of the program- I have so much flexibility in the electives I can choose and you can curate your own curriculum in a sense based on your interests built on top of your chosen concentration. One last thing I'll say that helped me personally in my decision making process is to reach out to student ambassadors of programs you are looking at and ask them all these questions too! Yale has their own that you can reach out to if you do a quick google search. Best of luck on your decision and I know you'll do amazing wherever you end up

I just watched all your videos and really appreciate them!! I recently got accepted and am planning on enrolling so these videos are really helpful. Could you speak a little to housing on campus/off campus and if you participated in the housing lottery on campus how that was?? Thank you so much!!

Congratulations on your acceptance! I'm happy to be of help, I am actually in the process of apartment hunting and moving so I'm hoping I can make a quick video on housing in New Haven for Yale MPH students. But in the meantime- I'd recommend you to join yale off campus housing groups on facebook where a lot of people post availability of units, sublet over the summer and where people look for roommates. There is also yale specific housing that you can look into by digging a bit onto yale websites. Some students do live on campus, but I'd say most people live off campus. I never participated int he housing lottery myself because I moved with my partner and dog and there weren't many dog friendly units I was interested in. I will say though it seems competitive when i was looking into it and most people just apply without really seeing the place in person if that is something you are comfortable with doing! Hope that was helpful and feel free to reach out with more q's if you have any :)
