Hi lovely! Speed tells us the rate at which an object is moving, whereas velocity tells us the rate at which an object is moving in a specific direction. Speed is a scalar value because it only has magnitude/size, whereas velocity is a vector quantity because it has magnitude/size AND an associated direction.
