My dad was a professor when I was in elementary school and would bring home used transparencies to wash. It was so satisfying to watch the marker wash away! We had a huge marbles phase at my elementary school. You would draw a circle in the dirt and try to knock the other person's marble out of the ring. You can play for keepsies so that you would keep the other person's marble of they lost. There was also a competition for who had the coolest marble too!

It's interesting since I was a teacher for 5th grade and subbed in other grades a few times too. So having my own childhood experiences in school, and having my experiences in school as a teacher. It's crazy! And I will say, having a sub was usually more work than anything else, having to write out a lesson plan and procedures for everything is exhausting! And having to warn them of the kids who would probably be up to trouble. Oh school memories...

I remember all the cool kids had Trapper-Keepers and spiral notebooks. I always wanted one but my mom was all about saving money so I was like the only one in my class who had loose leaf paper in a 3-ring binder. As far as flirting went, one of my friends told a boy in our 5th grade class I had Mickey Mouse bras so then he always sang the Mickey Mouse Club song with changed lyrics about my bra. He also liked to snap the girls' bras too. I remember the TV's and overhead projectors too. We didn't start getting white boards until I was in high school. I always liked going outside to beat the dust out of the erasers. Oh! and the field trips! There was something better about riding the bus for a field trip rather than to get to and from school.
