In my opinion, sometime around the 2015/2016 era, sports companies realised that football jerseys aren’t meant to be just worn on the pitch during a match and can be marketed as a fashion wear so that’s why nowadays you see companies competing to see who can out-design the other and the way it’s marketed is clearly for fashion alongside the sport itself. Obviously this does boost the sales since more people are now aware of the outfit potential a football jersey has but it also explains why in recent years we’ve been seeing more creative designs for the club and national teams’ jerseys.

In my opinion it's hard to judge the kits from the pictures you use. For me the fit is 90% of the look. For example, the Uruguay kits, the don't look bad on those pictures, but they are tight fit and look terrible when they actually wear them. That's actually the case for most Puma shirts.
