I think something that you’re forgetting with the Packers secondary is that the field was so slippery that offense always had an advantage in terms of knowing where they were going to step, preparing their footwork to make a move where the defense is all reactive. You saw it on both sides of the ball where the Eagles secondary really struggled as well because of the turf. I would wait till week 2 to judge the Packers secondary

It doesn't really matter. If the conditions are universal the grading is equal. Every field/ barametric pressure/ mosquitos/ stadium noise/ ect, ect. Every week, conditions change. In the end, it is all averaged out

I'm not worried about the defense. I think it's gonna be a big play defense.We got three turnovers.That's what I was looking for We made 2 stops in the 3rd quarter back-to-back. We had a 2 point lead, and the offense crept to bed. They didn't take advantage of getting momentum in the game and extending the lead. This is a whole new scheme. Why people expect the packers to come out and dominate is beyond me. All the rules are set up for the offense to flourish. We went toe to toe with one of the most talented teams in the NFL
@russellloving32427 күн бұрын
exactly- similar with jordan. that early pass where he tried to plant and slipped.... nearly threw a pick 6. from that point on he clearly wasnt trusting his footing. and was throwing off platform, and with just arm for the majority of the game.
@gabrielpreston88326 күн бұрын
@@robertmiller172 however the turf condition in that game was unlike anything you will see on a normal football field and that matters more than any other condition mentioned. Offense 100% had the advantage because they knew where they were running their routes while the defense could only react. That’s why you continually saw big plays from both offenses. We will have to see in the next couple weeks if the Packers defense has improved or not but I don’t think that game is a fair assessment.

Hey, here is a crazy idea, how about our offence figures out how to score in the red zone " a carey over problem from last year" and this game goes the Packers way. My goodness, the defense got 3 turnovers against one of the most complete offense in the league!!!!

For any team in the league, best defensive strategy against Jalen Hurts is keeping him on the bench. Long offensive drives, contain defense. Force Jalen to play hero ball with his arm.

my concerns are minimal if any. First game of the year, in South America, on a slippery ass field, vs a SB contender with a top 3 DL and OL, with questionable officiating, self inflicted wounds... and lost by 5. Also game 1 of a new scheme. Give it time, plus they were containing more than pass rushing. we will get it together

A new scheme takes time to implement and understand, even for a veteran unit. Plus, that field was not fit to play NFL football. Soccer is played running more straight lines, less quick starts and stops, less cutting laterally, less physical contact requiring leverage and a firm footing, and players WALK more than run in that sport. It's a miracle more players weren't injured because of that beautifully green pile of spinach they played on. A top o-line is tough to get pressure against, and Clark is correct about playing more contain than attack, that was obvious, which is the opposite of what they said they would do. Not enough twists and stunts, not enough aggressiveness in the pass rush. The young guys in the backfield did pretty well, but they've got to get better, play more press coverage to disrupt the timing, and definitely need to tackle better. If they can get more pressure with the front four they won't need to blitz, but a few more various blitzes would be advisable, especially if they are wanting to he more aggressive, more attacking, as they all claimed it would be. I'd rather see them get beat being aggressive than get beat being passive, like the previous scheme. I'd like to see more Cooper on the field, and more of the young CBs in place of Nixon in nickel, too. It's also helpful if the officials are willing to call holding on BOTH offensive lines, because EVERY O-line holds.

the Pack were the highest scoring losers in week 1 with 29 points. Some of the 29 points came from the D generating turnovers. The Pack offense played okay at times but they also struggled. The Pack D was sloppy. that happens the first game of the season. Alexander played okay. I'm not a fan of matching the #1 corner with the #1 wideout all game long. The Pack should have mixed it up, especially considering Brown has about 25 pounds over Alexander. Alexander pulled his own weight and even got a pick. On the one, big play Alexander gave up for a TD, it looked like the safety should have also covered the receiver over the top, so he and Alexander can share the blown coverage. Although the stats don't show, McDuffie struggled on several plays. It looked like the eagles were targeting where ever McDuffie was covering. McDuffie plays okay when he is blitzing but struggles when he has to read and react and play coverage. Cooper surprisingly played very well for his first appearance. His physical abilities were on full display. He should start over McDuffie. Bullard looked okay. He gave up a play against a tightened running a crosser. Man to man coverage with Bullard hugging the line probably wasn't a good play call in that situation. I would have liked to see Evan Williams get involved on some of the nickel and dime situations.
@k3w1b3an57 күн бұрын
Alexander didn't play well at all. I don't believe Barkley hurt us like some say he did. It's difficult to say if containing Hurts was the right game plan. It accomplished exactly what we wanted but we put zero pressure on him.

The turf was bad it affected them the whole game on both sides of the ball. We also need to clean up the penalties, the penalties need to stop

So much for JEFF HAFLEY and his schemes he’s going to be the big difference lmfaooo. I kept trying to tell people this pass rush had no push or real start power. Kenny Clark and rashan Gary are actual DTs and not edge rushers. They said oh Luke Van ness, Karl brooks, Kingsley Enagbare were going to be great sleeper picks. Preston Smith is just washed and unproductive but starting. They should’ve drafted or we went in free agency to land a Hassan reddick esque edge rusher. The LBs were terrible too, can’t tackle or stop the run of Saquon. They’re starting guys because they’re being cheap on the salary cap, Wilson’s the best guy to get? I like McDuffie, but I saw 2 missed tackles big time, and Quay Walker disappeared too. The DBs got burnt a lot, primarily Jaire who I like, and I saw Bullard miss several tackles out there too missing coverage too.

The Green Bay Packers got star performances with Zach Tom and Jayden Reed and an impressive debut from Edgerrin Cooper and Xavier McKinney on defense, but a dominant performance from the Philadelphia Eagles offensive line and big games from A.J. Brown, Devonta Smith, and Zach Baun were too much to overcome in a 34-29 loss in the season opener on Friday Night. The much-anticipated debut of Jeff Hafley’s defense was mostly a flop. Edgerrin Cooper had a run stop, a batted pass, and 3 total tackles on only 11 snaps. Xavier McKinney intercepted a pass, gave up only 1 completion into his primary coverage and made 4 tackles without a miss. Eric Stokes had a missed tackle but ended up giving up only 2 catches into his coverage. Keisean Nixon had a sack of Jalen Hurts, a pass breakup and 2 stops, but he gave up 4 catches and missed 2 tackles. Lukas Van Ness had 1 hurry and 1 run stop over his 19 snaps. Isaiah McDuffie missed 2 tackles and gave up a touchdown pass from Jalen Hurts to Saquon Barkley. Kenny Clark had 4 hurries but earned terrible grades against the run. Kingsley Enagbare didn’t have a pressure or a tackle over his 30 total snaps. Karl Brooks delivered a pressure and 2 stops but earned the team’s lowest run defense grade. TJ Slaton had 3 assisted stops and a hurry but he also received poor grades against the run. Gotta get those cleaned up if this team wants to compete down the road. Go Pack Go 💚💚💛💛
