Grading cards is almost like buying mystery boxes nowadays. You can get something good or you could get shafted. Sometimes it's outright a shafted. OCG are almost always 10s when they're freshly pulled. Their card quality is truly superior

I keep hearing about OCG card quality, but having owned some myself, they feel the same as TCG in terms of cardboard thickness. What's up with that claim? Are you sure it's not a "rarity is better" ?

@-Siknakaliux-II it's not just thickness. The card stock is different but the printing quality and foiling quality is also better. Meaning, there are lesser chances of surface scratches, centering issues and edge issues. So those cards are way more likely to get PSA 10s

@@-Siknakaliux-II true that they feel about the same. If you inspect carefully, you will see that OCG cards are slightly thicker. Especially the ultimate rares and Collector's rares. But the real benchmark of quality is how often and how easily they get damaged. TCG cards are sometimes damaged straight out of the pack. And they can get damaged even if you sleeve them. But that happens way less often with OCG

First??! I've Seen It All To Often In Other Videos When You Send In Cards To Be Graded That It First Gets A Low Grade Then You Resub It And It Gets A 9 Or A 10. So A "Low-Key" Scam....I Can See How You Can Come To That Conclusion. The Consistency Of Grading Varies To Much. PSA seems like a hit or miss every time, almost like gambling. Sometimes, the grade makes sense if the card is damaged or bent, etc. But sometimes it doesn't have any damages and still gets a low grade. 😂

I work at GameStop and we just started doing PSA grading for customers, I used it to send a Ghost Rare DMG from Ghosts from the Past 2, and a Starlight Rare Kashtira Arise-Heart. Cost me about 32$. Excited to see what they bring me in a few months. From what I know with PSA, they grade the edge spacing and centering of the cards and are much more thorough. My DMG is probably gonna be 8-9 bc of bad centering and edge spacing

Honestly though that Stainless Steel DMG card going up from 7 to 9 means he made more money out of that card on its return but as I mention before when it got a 7 it could have been a finger print found on the card but it was in the case for awhile and the finger print could have disappeared off the suffice so when it was graded again they didnt see it and so it got a higher grade.

If the card grade is lower it means it could have a dent or scratch somewhere on the front or back of the surface of the card and you probably would need like a light put on the card to see it. But they grade for these reasons.. corners,surface if the card is centered or not.. dents and scratches.

I inquired about the rankings at a local card store, my friend there told me that 8 is the basic standard for mint condition, 9 is very good centering and quality of the paper, and 10 is perfect on all accounts - I personally got back three cards all at 9's, two of which were pulled fresh from a pack.

I personally don’t grade my cards but I wouldn’t go as far as to call it a scam. Like you said I think it depends, a lot of the time, on the person grading your card. So you might have to have it graded multiple times to get the proper grade for it.

It depends on the tier u used but most companies charge like $10-15 for bulk orders if the card is worth less then $200 if the card cost more then that u have to go to a higher tier

If im not mistaken which i very well may be but the one got an 8 because miscuts have different parameters and the 6 right after it was not miscut it was just poorly printed so it get graded under standard parameters. And like i said i could be 100% wrong but thats what im thinking

I think being able to get a PSA 7 or higher is a fantastic way to preserve NM cards for nearly forever. Outside of people coming up with alternative ways to preserve cards they can become damaged over time and this big time helps. Also then you know the accuracy in print quality/surface condition forever. I really like grading even though I don’t always agree with some grades that come back

Grading is technically a scam no matter what if you ask me. Generates additional value out of absolute thin air just because somebody said a card looks good. The fact that you can crack open a card and send it back in and it actually has the possibility of coming back as a higher or lower grading proves that it’s entirely subjective based on who is looking at it.
