@@bretfrench1228 Roll-and-move board games are on the extremely low end of the strategy scale when it comes to games. There's a lot more strategy in Yahtzee than Monopoly. It's only because Monopoly has a negotiation element tacked on that keeps it from being straight Chutes And Ladders level of insipid. In comparison, Matt probably had a D&D game the other night where the players tried at least a handful of crazy things that aren't covered in the thousand-plus pages of rules for his edition of the game. You know those memes with an increasingly posh-looking Pooh? If Monopoly is like that image file, a tabletop RPG is like actually going to a university and earning an academic degree. There are so many good board games out there. Monopoly was invented as an educational punishment, and its poisonous tree bears only vile fruit.

The dynamic between these two is quite different than with Arin and Dan. When Arin was all, "don't do it," Dan would've either called Arin out on being a manipulative douche, or he'd be like, "do what?" as he buys the brown property. Matt just casually ignores Arin and is all, "yeah sure, I'll buy a brown property." Either way, Arin's not getting that brown property, lol.

@@NWolfsson It was also a pretty shitty game to play compared to modern monopoly as it functioned more as an art piece than an actual game. The whole story that monopoly was some kind of "stolen" game ignores that the rules where almost completely rewritten. The Landlords game also wasn't some "anticapitalist" game as often is touted as by armchair socialist and people that parrot them. Rather is a critique of how taxation (and by and large still is) handled, arguing in favour of a Georgian model (tax payment based on land ownership rather than tax payment based on wealth and consumption). And a single tax system would still be capitalist in nature as it works on the presumption of the ownership of private property.
