About the chant:
"Viderunt Omnes" is a traditional Gregorian chant of the 11th century. The work is based on an ancient gradual of the same title.
The chant was subsequently expanded upon by composers of the Notre Dame school who developed it as type of early polyphony known as organum. Thought to be written for Christmas, the polyphonic settings would have retained the same liturgical purpose as the original gradual, while being musically enhanced for the festivities. The cantus firmus, or tenor, "holds" the original chant, while the other parts develop complex melismas on the vowels. The various settings of Viderunt Omnes provide context for specific trends in medieval music.

Exactly. The crusader on his knees with his sword pointing downwards speaks to me the most though. I feel like he's been through the most out of all of the soldiers there somehow. Look how bloody his chest piece is. Look at his expression. It almost brings me to tears.

But I hope that there is a heaven and they're up there. Sorry for the skepticism. I used to be more religious when I was younger but the trials and tribulations I've gone through have distracted me from my faith. I was just in my early teens when my family started to fall apart. It feels like a blur but I stopped going to a Catholic school for some reason, we stopped going to church, etc, etc. Sorry for the rant but I guess I needed to let that out. Now, we use profane musical instruments, and secular music to praise and worship the Lord, as the Protestants (I am obviously refering to Planetshakers, Hillsong, etc. I used to listen to it, and I am a cradle Catholic. ) do. I wish the entire Church can return to its holy roots. I know one day that it will happen. I used to listen Hillsong and Planetshakers since as long as I can remember, until about 2015, when I found the Tridentine Mass, and listened to the Holy Gregorian Chants, and fell immediately in love with it.
