Would you please introduce different practice areas of a solicitor as I am quite confused with the term "commercial solicitor"? Can a solicitor be not "commercial" if he is not working in the government? What is the actual meaning of a "commercial solicitor"? And some solicitors may deal with private clients rather than corporate, so is he still a "commercial solicitor"? Thanks in advance🙏

This is a very confused term for law students but in most law firms, many areas of law inevitably involve some elements of commercial affairs so city law firms use this term loosely to refer to the nature of their work!

I think it depends on your career ambition too - if you fancy corporate stuff, you have more opportunities in international firms around the world

Is doing a year in project financing(in your domestic country) with the LPC from the UK increase your chances? Or after the LPC opt for a paralegal job or something similar and during that time take the SQE and qualify as a solicitor? Please reply as soon as possible.

Hi, I can’t give advice on which route is better for sure but I think experience in corporate work will help you with your applications especially if you work on more global transaction back home
