Souness had a deal with the Sun newspaper £50k per year for exclusive sports news regarding Rangers. The Sun were the only newspaper with the news of Mo Johnson on the day he signed for Rangers, all the other tabloids had to play catch up the following day. The Hillsborough disaster and the newspaper (the Sun) coverage of lies and deceit about dead Liverpool fans, including zero attempt at investigative journalism on the South Yorkshire police incompetence and cover up. I don’t think you’ll find a newsagent anywhere in Liverpool selling the Sun and Souness was happy to take £50 k from them for exclusive news stories.
