Funny comments here! KP was extremely talented but why would Swann be jealous of a guy who wasted his talent as his ego was so big, averaged 47 but could have been 57 or higher, failed completely as captain and alienated his team and his coach inevitably getting pushed out in ignominy. He constantly failed in innings due to his arrogance but always pulled an incredible innings out a the moment he was beginning to look bad. I have never seen such a pattern before. It suggests if his ego was in check he could have been one of the true greats and had a longer career too. Swann knows better that any of us how his attitude affected the team and Swann is also one of Englands greatest spinners (and a bit of a knob too yes). To suggest jealousy is ridiculous, but people who can't comprehend the full complexity of that situation will always try to simplify things. The comical take of KP averaging 50 odd for Surrey by scoring a single 300 and nothing else higher than 12 was precisely what he was. He replicated exactly that pattern over and over for England He will remain the only batsman I know with such a weird statistical anomoly.

what's with your hate of the man? so what if he is a knobhead, he's the best england cricketer for 50+ years. this video makes me cringe - Swann is such a bell-end, just proves KP's claims. I genuinely think Swann and Broad were jealous of his popularity with the fans. In time KP is the one that will be remembered. KP is obviously arrogant and I've never met the man, but he's probably a pain in the arse to deal with too. That being said, the ECB were way too heavy handed and draconian when dealing with him. He should have played 25-50 more tests for England. What a shame.
@robcalvert88306 жыл бұрын
Popularity with the fans? Are you kidding me? There was a reluctant enjoyment of KP and his skills. There was recognition that he was a player that was great to watch but he was never loved by the fans. He would have played for any country in the world if it meant him being able to play Test Cricket. Swann was a million times more popular with England fans, Broad too.

KP was a very good player but full of himself and was critical of some of his team mates, so the Aussies love to have a go at him and call him a "wanker". Shane Warne was exactly the same and even worse with his off field antics but the majority of Aussies won't stand for any criticism of him. The Aussies are good at a lot of things but they are undefeated World Champions of double standards.

I would like to think that if I was ever good enough to play for England, I would not resort to publicly taking to p*** out of anybody else in the changing room, irrespective of how much of a c*** they were. I would like to think I wouldn’t bail out when the going got tough either.

How does Greame Swann get away with being a complete prick. If Archer or KP had deserted England in the middle of an ashes series, can you imagine the backlash they would get? It’s one rule for the typical English chaps (good old boys) and another if you are a bit different. Swann never got the stick he deserved for what he did.

Ben Knight I think most people still see him as England’s best ever spinner or at least one of, which is completely fair. I don’t think he was crucified in anyway near the same manner that KP was for his indiscretions or other players. It wasn’t a defining moment in Swann’s career. He escaped the backlash of a terrible tour because he snuck out through the back door midway.
