In the event of a power cut, can you still send water to cisterns upstairs? If not, your indirect system does seem to provide the ability to override the water coming via pump, and instead use the pressure from the mains supply.

During a power cut a pump wouldn't send water directly to a cistern or a header tank. But if you had a in-direct then as long as the header tank was full then yes you would have a supply of water to your appliances.
