Now thats a respectable safe, and I'm impressed with that door thickness. Does it have the same plate steel on the body, and also, what is the thickness of the steel that the bolts protrude from ?

Nope. No prybars for you Graffunder. I really like these. There is a point in plate thickness/hardness where an angle grinder is just a pain (I own a metal fabrication business). You are buying a lot of time with the Graffunder. With the additional layers of security system, dog, nosy neighbors and "nobody knows it is here" and finally, good insurance I'd be very confident storing a bit of wealth and firepower.
@parkerssafes2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your input. Where do you think the line is regarding effectiveness of an angle grinder vs. steel thickness?
@imkindofabigdeal43082 жыл бұрын
@@parkerssafes At about 1/4" + thickness an angle grinder is a pain. Slow, kickback and eats standard cutoff wheels. And more risk of the wheel detonating into your face. The most common angle grinders use 4.5" cutoff wheels which gives you about 1" of actual cutting capacity (the grinder takes up some space and the wheels are consumed pretty fast on thick plate). The next size up grinder (not as common) is 6". More capacity but I imagine a bad guy with the 20 wheel value pack would have to clear his calendar for the day to get into a Graffunder with one.

@@parkerssafes The real threat to thinner plate steal doors and safe bodies are metal cutting circular saws, they can cut up to 1/4" plate steel ridiculously fast.

I'm curious how these safes react to certain fires with the door being so tight with expansion, something would have to give you would think. I would rather have AR type steel or SR type steel in the body especially. After watching what a circular saw with a Diablo type blade can do to carbon steel is amazing.

Being a machinist, welder, etc I would like to see there production process. Holding those tolerances I am starting to think the door and body it closes into are CNC produced they are making a lot of chips making safes ha. Good video Aaron always enjoy watching..

How does weight of the 6032 effect the average home foundation? I have a slabbed home built in '68 and didn't know what might happen having a compact, 2000 lbs object roll across it and then permanently bolting it down in corner of house. I hear slab thicker in corners.

Well. the canned answer is check with an engineer. We normally don't put safes heavier than 1400 pounds on a framed floor without reinforcement.

I'm curious about corrosion threats in safes, especially gun safes. Obviously higher-end safes are often made much more properly, but what can you really do for safes that aren't crazy good, top-of-the-line quality? What kind of ways could you determine the construction of the Safe wont release chemicals that would eat away at firearms or other metals stored within for long periods of time? What safes are known for using proper, safe materials that dont cost a literal fortune?
@parkerssafes3 жыл бұрын
Generally, I'd say be careful with the imported stuff. A number of years ago, there was a bunch of sheetrock that came from China that had way too much moisture in it. It caused a lot of problems with gun safes that used it along with major issues in the building industry. I haven't had any problems with corrosion in any brands that we currently sell. Additionally, I haven't heard of any recent corrosion problems with any safes. Keeping a nice coat of oil on your firearms covers a multitude of sins.

How long does the bolts extend out behind the frame?
@parkerssafes3 жыл бұрын
They extend about an inch and a half behind a three-quarter inch solid steel plate. There’s absolutely no bending or flexing of the steel on the door or the frame. Even if the bolts only extended a quarter inch it would be enough.
