Judas is a reminder that our plans don’t always align with God’s-no matter how good you think they are. The Chosen has done an amazing job with Judas, despite limited knowledge we have of him from Scripture. It’s important to remember that Judas, as well as the rest of the Apostles during Jesus’ ministry, were no different from us. They were always confused and full of doubt in Jesus. They made many mistakes. Though they fully believed Him to be the Christ and Son of God, they kept thinking that Jesus would establish a physical kingdom on earth and overthrow the Romans. This greatly upset Jesus, as shown in Scripture. I like to think that Judas was the one who took this vision too far, allowing Satan to enter him, because he couldn’t accept that his plans didn’t align with God’s-even though his intentions were never meant to be malicious. It’s truly tragic actually. And Jesus weeping at the end of the scene, knowing what was coming for Judas is so heartbreaking.

Judas was destined to betray Him. This scene was probably one of the least Biblical so far. Judas never belonged to Yeshua.

At 16:25 Judas is lost. He is as lost as if he'd never been chosen. It surely must've broken his Rabbi's heart. As I see this played out, it breaks my heart too. For some reason that is beyond me, this scene is causing all sorts of controversy. Apparently the kerfuffle is over Jesus character saying he'd pray for Judas. Why wouldn't Jesus pray for Judas? He loves him. Jesus prayed for himself when his hour of betrayal was at hand. Yes....this will be very hard to watch. Having said that, I am enormously proud of Luke Dimyan as he has brought Judas to life. Luke has given us a Judas we actually liked, even though we knew he was doomed. Thank you guys for the preview! Well done (but soooo sad).

The thing is, the first lesson Jesus taught Judas upon meeting him after the Sermon on the Mount was concerning his place in the Kingdom of God and how it doesn’t rely on talents or experience, “I do not require that of my followers. You would actually be one of the few. I only require what other rabbis do: that you seek to be like me.”

A lot of us had been hoping Shmuel would stay with Jesus, and it’s sad to see him turn against Him again. The scene with Judas is so grievous! But so well acted. You know before it starts that Judas will turn away for good. We can even see it when Judas says, “Thank You for Your time.” His heart is gone. And Jesus’ grief at losing his heart is so powerful.

Judas asked Jesus if he could follow him, and Jesus agreed. Judas was specifically chosen to be the betrayer. It's just so heartbreaking to see these parts acted out and with the possibilities of how all this may have played out. These 2 actors really do a great job of portraying Jesus and Judas. The whole casting for this show has really been stellar. I am so looking forward to Season 5 coming out sometime next year. Meanwhile, I'll just have to watch Seasons 1 through 4 again. Judas' betrayal was that he tried to force the hand of God. Judas believed if Yeshua's back was to the wall, He would have no choice but to proclaim Himself. Almost all of Yeshua's Followers still believed that Messiah was the great conquering King that would restore Israel to it's rightful place. That He would drive out the Romans and the nations His footstool. Judas wanted to, needed to be instrumental in making this take place. The betrayal wasn't for the money, it was for Judas' pride. He wanted Yeshua to take HIS advice. The money was Satan's final inducement to push Judas' already unstable mind in the direction that would lead to Yeshua's death. Remember Judas had a soft spot for money. The temptation was take the money and force Yeshua's hand. People forget that Satan thought all the way up until Sunrise of Easter morning that he had WON. Satan can foretell futures where he forces events to occur. But only God knows every last choice that will be made. And the awe we should hold is because ONLY the Lord does not coerce us to do His bidding. Only God uses the freewill choices of others to give us warnings when we go off the rails. We have no real understanding of the word omniscient. Our attitudes say we have no comprehension of omnipotence or omnipresence either. How can we worry if we know with certainty that He is always with us and also with everyone else all at the same time? How can we worry when the Almighty God is capable of literally ANYTHING. Sadly, our imaginations can't even comprehend that reality. We think of how awesome the Resurrection was or how Yeshua raised Lazarus but somehow we still doubt? Surely we should know that the Creator of All can remake a human body and return it's soul to it? But couldn't He also make it as if it had not ever happened as well? Yes, if He chose to, He could start all over again and we would not ever know. He doesn't do that because He wants our lives to have meaning. Achievement is only accomplished by overcoming adversity. So He lets us choose what we allow Him to do. Think about it.

If you all ever do a Bible study on Judas PLEASE let me know. I have been so fascinated with his humanity. I believe his mindset and choices opened the way for satan to enter. Satan did not enter until the last supper so I do think Judas did everything he knew to follow Jesus but he was set on his ways (his own understanding). I think there is so much to learn from him.

Judas saying "I am nothing" sounds to me like he is trying to guilt Jesus into doing what Judas wants, a manipulation attempt.
@AlydiaRackham2 күн бұрын
I think it's an explosion of the terror he's been feeling this whole time, his insecurity. It just burst out of him. He's afraid that Jesus doesn't actually want to use him for anything important at all. He fears that he's left behind a life, family, career and opportunities for no reason--that he convinced Jesus to take him on, but that Jesus has no place for him. Because he doesn't understand the kingdom, just as James and John didn't understand when they asked to sit at His right and left hand. But Judas allows that fear to take over--he gives the devil a foothold. (They illustrate how that can happen by showing it happening to Shmuel. However, I somehow believe Shmuel will come around eventually. I don't know why, but I just do.)

I knew it would be heartbreaking when Judas first came to Jesus, so expectant and so full of hope. And ambition? Yet as the season progresses and one sees how his character is unable or unwilling to change from his "old self", quite unlike the rest of the apostles, we can see the story getting in line with the inevitable end. It doesn't help that the actor playing Judas is so likeable too. 😜

Your point regarding how Judases character is unable or unwilling to change from his old self quite unlike the rest of the Apostles... Also how the ambition of Judahs Pride to be acknowledged in making Jesus the celebrated Victor and Warrior of overcoming the Romans captivity and oppression upon the Jews The pride of Judas to be out at the Forefront of the front of the war to like chameleon nature feel he needed to be seen at the head of the cause - making his prideful advice and his will above and being the center of attention to push his ambition and agenda of being a businessman in the Limelight above all other disciples Judas like we the public in our current day choose our own way our own will and push our own agenda and are unwilling often enough to relent and let Heaven's plan to be for us in a submission and being Guided by our fathers Direction not forcing our pride and our own way It appears to me this is the major issue with Judas and us in our current world where we're unwilling to submit to the Heavenly plan but push our own way and in our own worldly ways of agendas instead of being submissive as Heaven wants us to follow his way daily abiding hour by our in relationship in father son understanding as we learn through life and walk in this life abiding in submission walking in his way is not our own

He loves money, but his love for fame is greater. He just can't hear what Yeshua is saying and receive it. Too full of himself.
