I tried this with a purple gymnocalycium and it’s rooting after 3 weeks i used rooting hormone it’s coming off the rootstock core

As we already know, Gymnos that are 100% coloured (without any trace of green) cannot develop own roots, but in this case could this technique be successfuly used ?? Thanks for the video.

Can you define “fake degraft” please? I don’t understand what makes this “fake.” I’m very confused.

it's was called "fake de-graft" because there is still cambium of the rootstock where the new roots will develop. But if you really want to "properly de-graft" it you need to remove everything from the rootstock especially the rootstock cambium after that you just have to wait for the actual cactus to produce it's own roots.

Yes after degrafting it should be airdry for 3-5 days but make sure to apply rooting powder. And become own roots soon.

lay some paper towel over the graft before taping. Thus the tape wont stick to the graft and risk pulling it off when removing the tape

You can also use slice of a stocking pulled tight over the graft, then just tape around the rootstock to hold the stocking in place
