I love Graham Coxon as a guitarist. He is so damn humble, but my goodness what a player he is. What is more he is totally unselfish. I have seen exerpts on KZbin where he shows how to play certain riffs, and where he even guides others showing them how to get the sound. Brilliant! That is what I call a musician! Graham like all great guitarists, realises that he has to hand down his gift to upcoming guitar artists to enable and inspire the next generation to achieve his genius and/or even better it. The man too is not up his own ass! Not at all. There is absolutely no bravado or godliness about him. Totally straight forward approachable bloke, a human being who anyone can hold a converstion with. This is his real charm, and I love it!!

Coxon has said that the '52 reissue had really powerful Seymour Duncans in it, but he prefers something more vintage and relies more on the amp and pedals for distortion. I've also noticed his guitars have a bit more "attack" to them now rather than that chunky wall of overdrive the '52 did. I agree though it sounded awesome around 1998.

So far I only know of 2 Coxon teles here. Owned by me and a friend here.

If Id have to have one criticism of blurs comeback gigs it would be that Graham wasnt playing the butterscotch 52 reissue tele no more! back in the day when he used it, esp around the times of blur blur and 13, that guitar seemed to scream such great noise! Check them out doing beetlebum from Glasto 98, now thats noise. Having said that, prob different pedals back then, he used to have all boss pedals and two rats and big muff I think, that and the fact he would tanked up on stella! LEGEND

Well surely Graham Coxon is one of THE icons in alternative music history. With "his" signature fender telecaster - well, he bought it second hand from somone, and that someone did put a Gibson (!) humbucker instead singlecoil. Why not.. I thought to take the graham coxon tele for fun, but one one side, better some guitarist builds his OWN "signature" guitar instead "buying" some copy (not replica) of an icon. The guitar has one major disadvantage - you can not accuretly adust the strings to be octave-clean, as two strings are combined. Even the (199€) Fender Squier Affinity Tele is better, so i bought one. And you know what - i guess i will put a humbucker in it, there are also humbuckers available in singlecoil-width, so it fits perfectly. Love this guitar. And love the music of Graham Coxon.
@davecarpenter25175 жыл бұрын

Of course Coxon makes a fun of this happening "promote your fender signature tele..". And of course this is ART. As anything is ART. The Art, to do what he has been told to sell this guitar, but "under the radar" send the true message: This is sick rubbish. Why? Cause this is a guitar, Coxon found by random in a second hand store, some one did put some humbuckers into a tele, so its "different then usual". And NOW the fans should follow their hero/icon, and (as they cant get a part of his body or his time), so they can go to bed with this replica of a second hand show tele where someone did put humbuckers in. As TRUE VALUE can not be sold. THATS THE MESSAGE of this clip. Some genius talent with loads of practicing and learning for years, and creating some unique guitar playing style as an artist. And meeting good other geniusses and create some music that lasts. Music that touches and changes peoples hearts. Many parameters, many work, many luck. And a true genius in some fender promotion marketing clip.
