Gooch would play the ball on its merits and not get sucked into Warne himself. Something Warnie was the best in the world at. There was a palpable change in the feel of the game every time he came on to bowl. That's part of what made him so good at taking wickets.

From Perth WA Graham Gooch Great Batsman Great Captain Absolute Gentleman and sportsman Fitting that he has given the most eloquent tribute to S Warne that I've heard to this date. I was pretty choked up in the aftermath. Such an incredible shock. He was utterly unique in so many ways. A sportsman whose greatness actually transcended sport. And he had massive respect for this man speaking. If someone like Warne picks you in a combined Ashes 11 (corresponding to his playing era) that speaks volumes. He appreciated greatness in others too.

Heartfelt and to the point. But the cricket world, especially here in Australia, must not forget that it has also lost another of its stars. I have fondest memories of Rod Marsh, in particular during world series cricket and the era that followed. He was a showman, and an entertainer. He and Shane Warne both gave the very best they could give to cricket. My deepest sympathies to their families team mates and anyone who had the privilege to know them.

Yup - he was a class act too. Calling Randall back in the Centenary Test because he wasn't certain he'd taken it cleanly was wonderful - certainly made me think, as a cricketing youngster back then. Play hard, play to win, but play fair - it really ought to be that simple and it's a great shame it isn't always. The world is a better (well, less bad) place because these guys played cricket for a few years - they certainly made my life better, anyway.

I came home, the Mrs just said 'Shane Warnes died!!' I teared up. Always loved Shane. He lived here in Brighton half the year. Obviously captained Hampshire. A great Australian Cricketer. A great Cricketer. A great human. Just a legend. Shane Warne. An absolute Assassin on the pitch. But the kindest sweetest guy off it. He tried to help cricketers from the Captain of England, Australia or India to the lowliest club cricketer he met in an airport. Always happy with those big green eyes glinting at the camera, and his huge Hollywood white smile. What a ripper. They broke the mold when they made him. There really was, only one Shane Warne.

I wouldn't say I was a supper fan of cricket, I only really follow international cricket. As a Englishman the ashes is a very important event for us with a long history. As a kid I would be forced to watch cricket by family members as well as football, rugby and unusually for brit ice hockey. it took me a long time to be drawn into these sport as a fan but there's one thing I that caught me very young is the moments of true brilliance almost superhuman ability. things that seemed like true magic, and if there's one thing that gives me hope, on this rocky spaceship hurtling through the vastness of space. Its sport, the never-ending pursuit of improvement. the combat of war. but also the humbleness but resilience of defeat, the respect towards your opponent. this is how countries should battle not, by tossing the most precious fragile thing in the verse to the sword. So thank you Shane Warne a Legend among legends, super Hero of the IRL and all the "I AM LEGENDS" shoulders to which we now stand upon.

Shane Warne was indeed a great Leg Spinner. He used to play with the mind and used his leg spin as his weapon to get out the batsmen. He used trick right from his first Ball of his career. He was devastating in his attack against all the batsmen he played. Batsmen were not having any clue to face his deliver it may be a flipper, googly, legspin and used to got out. Amazing to see him bowling and there wont be another Share Warne for sure. He was man with full of Confidence by which the Australian team's confidence was at Peak at 1990, Even his look on ground with cream on his face, Long hairs and chubby ckeek, .
