I was 10 when this was playing on my station MMR in philly....knew and know every word....love it...

Yeah Jack, That's where I heard it first also. Left DelCo not long after my grad year of '79. Went to the West coast and Rocky mtns. None of the local stations played rock like WMMR in Philly.

I was 11 when it came out, but I first remember hearing it during the early days of MTV, where it seemed to get a lot of airplay for a while. Never forgot it.

WMMR in Philadelphia was legendary for playing great music (e.g. non-lame mainstream pop). This era forced radio stations to choose between playing the fresh *New Wave/ Punk/ Power Pop* artists, or going with the mass appeal stuff that was less edgy but pulled more listeners. Mostly just the biggest markets like NY, Philly, LA, SF, etc. had enough listeners to enable squeezing out enough sparks (ad dollars) to remain cool and not sell out.

Yes, Michael Pierson played his good stuff. I have albums if you ever want to talk about it.

Nobody staring at their phones, just enjoying the music and totally in the moment. Heaven.

Travis Bickle probably because they didnt have phones and this was a fucking tv show being taped therefore there was no reason to film it
@petermills20615 жыл бұрын
Travis Bickle . Most people do have smartphones these days !! In '79 I bet you or a mate used to take an ''instamatic' Camera for a few blurred shots ? I see Smartphones at a gig just a modern form of the traditional Scrapbook ! Being there is still being there !!

Live performances don't get much better than this ... tight, energetic, and true to the melody and feel of the recorded song ,,, which is a classic ! ... Wayne

Fantastic. GP and the Rumour at the height of their powers. Saw them play the Opera House in Wellington New Zealand on this tour and it was amazing. The floor over the orchestra pit collapsed from people dancing so hard on it!

@Sillything75 The full show is great. GP at his prime. It's "common" boot. From an American TeeVee broasdcast. Not sure which program. Perhaps Kirshner's? Nevertheless, good stuff.
