I can see now why Jerry West bonded and hand picked Kobe. Ultra competitive, never satisfied, solitary . He saw a lot of himself in this young teenager

Greatest Laker of all time in my opinion because not only what he did as a player but also as a GM.

Alluviale Daempfer considering his role as GM, he’s the most important person ever for the Lakers, and one of the most important in NBA history

I agree, the type of players he managed to bring to the Lakers are jaw dropping, and especially how and in cases of trades for whom

Youngsters cannot comprehend how great West was. He and Elgin made basketball popular on the West Coast. In Halberstam's book, a GM was quoted, "The should bronze his hands." The Logo. My first game as a kid was Lakers versus Royals. I stood next to Jerry. A thrill.

Great man, tortured soul. Unfortunately his parents realllllly fucked him up. I know many of you here can't read, so ask your friends to read his book to you. It says a lot about him and the man he is now.

You no damn well that Jerry West shouldn't be no damn logo. It is a slap in the face to Russell Chamberlain Kobe Jordan Kareem Magic Duncan Dr.J Isiah Durant Hakeem Kawahi Pippen Wilkins and Curry. The only reason Jerry West is the logo is because of backroom political bullshit. This is white privilege at it's finest.

Interesting "would you rather". Given those two choices I probably go with contentment, even though I'm a perfectionist lol. But I live a very happy life even though I expect a lot of myself. I think with Jerry West, his tough upbringing, trauma, and abuse from his father has a lot to do with his unhappiness, and that led to him becoming an unrelenting critic of himself that makes it difficult to achieve happiness.

Carl Kelly the crazy part is he isn't. he obviously had a complex from his upbringing (look it up...his dad was...look it up)...and it was exacerbated by being the best guard in the league and losing in the finals so much.
