Bailey is a good operator. Good catch on the engine coolant temperature before it gets to the red overheat range. You guys are cutting some really good wheat. When the combines are running slower speeds that’s always a good sign. Too bad the wheat prices are horrendous.

Thanks Trevor, the girls seem to have a different perspective on the operation and it is interesting to see a field opened-up from the center - I guess it's so the grain carts can reach the combines? I'm glad you're involved in the harvest again, I have a feeling you would be lost without it!
@TrevorStruthers5 ай бұрын
We call it cutting from the inside out and yeah, its too make it easier on the bankouts so they dont have to race around the edges to get to us.
@farmingnodak5 ай бұрын
@@TrevorStruthers yep makes it far easier and efficient to open up a field in the middle for grain carts with multiple combines. We do it mostly with corn fields with higher bushels.

Most operations where its steep would give a ride to another farmer who was interested in experiencing the difference! You get used to it, eventually.

Like your videos. Lot of people don't know what it takes to farm in that area. Was wondering if you ever met a guy named Lincoln Cooper. Everyone called him kiwi because he was from New Zealand. he was well known in the Prescott area

I do not. I asked around to a few people and they werent familiar. I will continue to ask though! It is a small area. I know a pineapple and he is from Hawaii. It's surely a thing. lol.

What kind of yield do y’all typically see on the hills? The fact y’all can farm some of that is amazing to me!
@TrevorStruthers5 ай бұрын
It varies wildly based on soil type, direction the hill is facing, and of course moisture. Average rainfall per year is under 20 inches in places here. Moisture is what stops us from having 150 bushel wheat. It grows great on hills but the average is like 70. This year its about 100 or more where these guys are

Thank you Al and welcome to the channel! Thanks for subscribing. We got a lot of flatland farmers in the comments and a few out here in the fields! I will be putting out a video about my brother in law from OKlahoma who drives a combine over some crazy hills

Wouldn't you think these expensive machines would have a fan in front to blow debris from radiator and transmission cooler?
@TrevorStruthers5 ай бұрын
The combines have air screens with auto cleaners but the tiny particles make it through. I almost got beat up once for blowing one out too late at night. In my previous videos theres one about a hunter telling me not to farm where i was cleaning it out. 114 degrees today here
@farmingnodak5 ай бұрын
Some have reverseing fans on them to help keep the rads cleaning longer... but fine particles get thorugh no matter what and start to build

I was told by the best bankout driver i know that if you arent scared of what youre doing you will get in trouble. Stuff happens and as long as you learn from it, you will figure it out.
