It is such a pleasure watching a great dancer of Guillem’s calibre. Not only of superlative technique but with a beautiful inner confidence that radiates with every subtle movement ~what a joy❣️ Even each curtsey to the audience is an extension of her exquisite grace. 🌹🌹🌹Her port de bras control, strength and balance is surely unparalleled.

It's so interesting watching clips of this pas de deux. How rare it is that both dancers are at the same exalted level. Not that it would be easy for anyone to match Ms Guillem (she is astonishing) but something is lost if they're not quite the same artistically. Sitll, we have to be grateful that somehow this was filmed so that we can watch and marvel. Bravo Sylvie.

I love how well she knows her body and basic movement physics. Notice how tightly she holds the attitudes 7:50 mark, this is to prevent her long limbs from slowing her down due to drag. Most dancers don't seem to know this currently, so these attitude pirouettes look a bit ragged and/or out of control.

I love how she does not sacrifice musicality for tricks. Like, she does a lot of tricks, but she has so much control over them that she can actually time them precisely. I hate how a lot of dancers these days seem to think it’s okay to ignore the music just to show off balance/turns. Like, we appreciate the wow factor of tricks, but we still want to see dance.
