About what percent these rules would be applicable in new SAT
@UniquePrep4 жыл бұрын
Hello, Bilal. With the exception of Double Negatives, we've seen all of the grammar rules in our Grammar Rules Playlist show up on the (not so new anymore) SAT. But as we mention in the video descriptions, some of the rules show up only rarely (like Subject-Verb agreement). Others, like redundancy and word choice, are more common on the post-2016 SAT, much more common than they used to be. Also, please except/accept (pick the right one) our sincere apologies for not replying sooner...we know this reply is a couple years late, but we just now realized that we had such a huge backlog of comments awaiting approval.

I love your videos man! But I have a question about example 9. Why doesn't "to" work? Don't we agree "to" something. Why is it "on" in the example?
@UniquePrep Жыл бұрын
There are a few prepositions often tacked onto "agree": on, to, and with. ("About" is sometimes used, also.) Which pairing you use depends on the context/meaning of the sentence. "Agree on" is used when two or more people have a common opinion about some issue or decide jointly on some course of action. "All of the council members *agreed on* a plan to renovate the old theater." "Agree to" is used when someone accepts a proposal/demand or gives their consent to something. "Dad *agreed to* drive us to the party." "Agree with" means to share someone's opinion. "I like the red shirt, and Ursula *agrees with* me."

he is afraid to swim or he is afraid of swimming which is correct??
@UniquePrep Жыл бұрын
Both are acceptable. In some cases, there may be subtle differences (in meaning/intent) between using "to + infinitive" and using "of + -ing" after "afraid," but such a distinction would never be tested on an ACT or SAT. Please note that if you're watching this video in preparation for the Digital SAT, *Idioms will NOT be tested at all on the Digital SAT.* Finally, if you're curious, there's some interesting info here about the "afraid of/to" distinction: english.stackexchange.com/questions/198557/whats-the-difference-between-afraid-of-verb-and-afraid-to-verb

Is there any other grammer rules outside this playlist that I should look up for new SAT?
@UniquePrep2 жыл бұрын
Chapters 11 & 12 of the Official Study guide (available for FREE on College Board's website) give a fairly detailed rundown of everything you'll need to know for the SAT Writing. Khan Academy's SAT prep is also a good place to get a sense of all the rules/areas that'll be tested. I can provide you with some specific links if you need them.

I was going to watch this lesson and then realized it’s a 7-year-old lesson. Is this helpful for the new sat?
