Take a musical boat ride through Mexico!
The Gran Fiesta Tour is a fun adventure located inside the pyramid at Epcot's Mexico pavilion. It was the first ride in the World Showcase to feature characters from a Disney movie - The Three Caballeros! Later, Norway followed suit when they replaced their Maelstrom ride with Frozen Ever After.
The Story
Get ready for a fiesta as you help find Donald Duck! The ride starts by showing posters for a Three Caballeros concert. As your boat travels past a Mayan pyramid and volcano, you'll hear from Panchito and José, two members of the Caballeros. They're looking for Donald, who has gone missing!
The next part of the ride follows Donald on his sightseeing adventures in Mexico, while Pancho and José frantically search for him on a magical flying poncho. You'll also see lively scenes with dancing characters and a piñata shaped like Donald.
Later, the boat enters a cave with special effects that combine animation and real-life footage. Finally, you'll float through Mexico City where fireworks explode overhead and the reunited Three Caballeros perform their big concert!
Fun Facts
The Gran Fiesta Tour replaced an older boat ride called El Rio del Tiempo. Only Panchito, from the Three Caballeros, is actually Mexican. Donald is American and José is Brazilian. The ride's special water flume system was made by a company that also built Pirates of the Caribbean and It's a Small World!
In 2015, the ride got an upgrade! The ending scene now features special figures, instead of just projections, of the Three Caballeros from the Mickey Mouse Revue.
