I haven't played GT3 in about 10 years. Going back and seeing this video not only gave me a flashback to my youth, but WOW did GT3 ever look amazing for its time! That game was amazing. Would love to find it somewhere and play it again

I like how accurate gt5 is in not just the graphics but in how the cars react, even with the ford gt (my favorite car) on road courses it's still a beast to control ( and same with my dad, in which surprises him on how I can manhandle it)

Played Gran Turismo 2 for the first time when I was 5. Never played the original but loved GT2. I then got a PS2 with GT3 and never stopped playing it. I then got GT4 and thought it was the best thing ever I still play it to this day. I have GT5 Prologue and GT5 for the PS3. All I need now is the original and I have the full collection :P

You did a great job on letting all gamers remember that how Gran Turismo was, but please don't misdirecting people because the Moon Over The Castle you used was the unused track (called type-R) from GT2 OST.

Never realised how much of an visual improvement gt4 was compared to 3. IMO gt3 was the most fun out of all of them. I've played every main gt there is and I'm always impressed. It's a racer and racers are limited, it's just a car and track when you boil it down but PD really put in the work. I know there are racers that are more realistic, there are racers that maybe more fun in a arcade way but GT for me is the best. Am I biased? Maybe. I've tried Forza and whooped the hell out of the person who owned it. He even resorted to switching off all driver assists and still couldn't keep up with my times. It's not a bad game but I could see from the little time I spent on it it's no challenge. Sadly the newer titles are proving no challenge also. I don't think they could emulate the heart in my throat, edge of the seat sheer fulfilment feeling I would get from the earlier games when winning a bloody hard race. The game may have a better physics engine and look almost realistic but it's lost a big something down the road (get it?). It's actually a shame I feel this way because there's no other racing game that comes even close. NFS most wanted 2013 was the most exciting racing game I'd experienced for years but that was mainly due to the speed and need to fully concentrate or otherwise you'd crash. Don't know what I'm saying and I'm sure I've contradicted myself somewhere but I used to love gt now it's just become another game 😟

There is nothing has been changed in GT series, just the graphics. Sound, physics, challenge still a peace of ###t. And nothing will change in the future either, as Yamauchi said on the SEMA show few weeks ago. Well done PD!

Truth, all. GT5 is such an incredible game that people have to invent stupid crap to complain about, e.g. the engine sounds. Not to say they can't be improved upon - there's nothing in any game that can't always be improved upon - but to me, the fact they are even able to mimic the sounds of a car engine & match it up to your real-time inputs is in itself amazing. I'm old school. I remember when Atari first came out. Pac Man, Frogger, Combat. :-)

my first game in the GT series was actually GT concept 01 tokyo and I was so glad i played GT3 after I've completed 01 concept as it helped me unlock all the licenses and a lot of credits to buy that suzuki pikes peak escudo as my first car :P

this is a great video mate, i love how you edited together. is it me or is the gt5 footage a little bit juddery? i think the step up in quality from 2 to 3 is amazing. i do still love gt 1 and 2, i sometimes play them just for a giggle. here`s a little question for you, how many cars have been in all 5 of the gt games? once again great video.

The same thing happens on GT6. The game renders replay angles in a bit more of a gritty way. Honestly, I think it just goes down to 45 or 30 FPS.

Aside from a few new tracks, cars, and graphics every year, Gran Turismo is fundamentally the exact same game from GT1.

I always thought GT3 looked more life like, glad to see I'm not the only one who thought that. GT3 was also the last GT game to be simple; after that, they kept trying to make it stupidly in-depth and detailed, which (even though it was cool at the time) made it less fun in my opinion. If they'd made GT4 by simply taking GT3, improving the physics and graphics a little bit, added the car list GT4 ended up with and kept the menus and music simple, it would have been the best game ever made.

I know it's meant to a sim, but the older ones still felt like games if you know what I mean? Even though they're not realistic now, GT 1, 2 and 3 let you drive realistically if you wanted to, or let you build up your car however you wanted and have fun in every race. GT4 and 5 limit the amount of stuff you can do to your car just to make it real, and whilst some probably like that, it's still fun to just slap a massive turbo and get 1,000 HP from a Skyline from time to time.

The big thing the focused on under the GT5 was the online feature and the online owns, also they wanted to make a great game at all and the graphics and physicals owns in gt5 compared to gt3/gt4 (im talking of experience ive got all gt games).

gt1, gt3 ,gt5 have awesome vtec sounds but in gt5 racing exhaust ruins sound on many cars and on others fully customizable trannys make a whining noise but all around gt2 was the most fun, gt1 was a racing revolution in gaming, gt3 was almost perfect, gt4 had the best graphics of its time, and gt5 is the most realistic racing game ever! good job gt series 4 bringing the best games ever

i remember all of these games, we thought the graphics and controlls/handling were so great, from then to now, its amazing what technology has brought us. i was 7 when this game came out. i recall a certain tv show, an episode of the honeymooners from 1950's (1953 i belive) in the show ralph says to his wife were not getting a new television set. Alice replies why not? (and demands a reason.)

What is there to change besides from what you have stated? It is a racing series and like you said as one as they upgrade physics and graphics, sounds, etc, the the series will get better. What do you want Polyphony to do? Change the story and stop using repetitive gameplay? *Sarcasm* Us racing fans mainly just want a racing simulator that is as close as possible to the real thing and Polyphony Digital is getting closer to that goal with each successive game.
