Gran Turismo exaggerates the drafting effect a bit. If you stay behind a rival (i.e. drafting), you'll gain slightly higher top speed. You can look closely at the player where the car struggles to reach 360kmh but shoots to 420kmh when starts driving behind the Escudos.
