For PCSX2 users: use your keyboard as pad 2. I set each button to the keyboard in order of the cheat, since there are bo repeats but the last one. L1 to Q, up to W, etc. Then you just have to type Q W E R T Y U I O O every time to bring up the menu. Helps a lot when youre doing many minor adjustments to the settings.

@@YellowHat07 now with online playable gt4 is for me 96/100 rating. Almost perfection for the ps2 hardware limits, if not only for three flaws: lack of mechanical damage and suspension damage and engine break, ( I don't blame for visual damage because would start to be too much for ps2 CPU) and of course the fact that is only 6 cars per race. The rest was perfect for the time. ( my rating is taking into account only for limitations of the time it was released, not comparing it to newer games)

@@draganivanisevic5182 Visual damage too is a factor of if the car companies that a game company obtains licensing from allows it. I.E. they might allow you to use their car models, but not allow for visual damage to be shown on their cars. Gt3 is my personal favorite bc it felt the most fun to me, but both 3 and 4 are tied for me in quality. Theyre both masterpieces on the ps2 and easily 2 of the top ps2 games.

I believe the FLAG parameter defines some camera angles. Maybe when using a free camera or something? ZOOM would be the same as a camera zoom. When you zoom in to take a picture, you can see it's not the same as "getting closer". Well that's why Zoom exists. WIDTH and HEIGHT decide the actual camera position in relation to your driver (In milimeters) DISTANCE is the angle between the driver's position and the camera. The higher value, the further ahead of the driver the camera will point at. The lower it is, the closer the camera will point in relation to the driver. It's also measured in milimeters. ASPECT theorically is what defines your aspect ratio, apparently Gran Turismo 4 uses a weird value in relation to what we use as Aspect Ratio nowadays. Considering back when the game came out the most common aspect ratio was 4:3, we can take 0,97 as it's value. That means that we can use a Rule of Three to get the values for widescreen (16:9) and ultra widescreen (21:9). Both of which are 1,30 and 1,70. As stated in the video, this shouldn't make too many changes since the game should re-size itself automatically, but it might improve the quality by adjusting the pixels properly instead of transforming them. OVERSCAN FACTOR would be what we commonly know today as the camera FOV (Field Of View). The lower the value, the higher the FOV and viceversa. BORDER WIDTH options are... Pretty self explanatory.

Is there no fix yet for the Ready... and the driving licence. Apart from the temporary fix turning the clamping setting from normal to full all the time, oh and the car lights.

The clamping mode settings are pretty much the permanent fix for the text. You only need to change them to normal when you do certain license tests.

The FLAG settings are possibly for inverting the analog sticks. FLAG_ROTX = invert horizontal motion, FLAG_ROTY = invert vertical motion. FLAG_ROTX|FLAG_ROTY = Invert both axis on the analog sticks

Its kind of cool but kind of sad that with a little cheat code combo makes a 17 year old gran turismo game more enjoyable than gt sport. It's crazy how good gt4 holds up today. I still see myself coming back to gt4 than I am gt sport or even gt6. The career and the sounds, the cars, the structure. Everything about this game oozes passion. You simply don't get that in very many new racing games nowadays

Just look for "The Bad" right here. The original songs made by Massahiro Andoh are: nobody, get closer, freedom to win, drive you crazy, kiss you goodbye, vette lug and green monster. Moon Over the Castle are present in all game regions but these songs are only in the JP game's localization.

According to some comments I’ve seen on other videos this may not work on the PAL version. EDIT: I stand corrected. It works for PAL. In fact, it should work for most, if not all versions of GT4, including the Online Beta. I guess people just have issues for other reasons. Just double check if everything’s right.

this secret option made me realize that the r34 nissan skyline is good at rally edit: this also made me realize the group c cars are wonderful at rally, and that the escudo cannot control itself when the ai is driving it. also someone should do this for the Like the Wind event

The wider the view the more unnaturally fast the speed gets. The is a reason why the developers chose that default view. It makes the speed feel easy and natural like or closer to real life with the default view. You feel more connected to the car and can tell the limits of cornering, braking, etc much easier and gradual.

In text it makes sense, but once you’ve actually played in both ways, the slightly wider FOV is much better across the board. Most people don’t like the chase cams from GT4 onwards because it was way too close to the car and stiff. I see so many videos of people fish-tailing because they can’t keep control of the car with the camera glued to it. It’s actually much easier now that you can see how much your car is rotating around corners and seeing how close you are to the curbs, grass etc. I doubt anyone’s going to be setting the overscan factor to lower than .75 unless they just want to mess around. I used to hate the chase cam in this game so much but now it’s actually enjoyable for me

@@RowdyGT I do experiment with GT Sport different camera adjustments to its fullest but imo the stiff camera I feel gives me more feel as to when the rear tires break loose. I can immediately tell the rear tires breaking loose from the stiff camera much quicker because it is tied to to car. This way you don't have to account for both the visual of the car (i.e 3d person view) and the rotation of the camera. Just from the camera tied to the car you can tell how much input to use for steering and adjust to more or less steering input. You obviously have to be very smooth and sensitive to the rotation of the stiff camera but at least you don't have to account for both the camera sway and where the car is rotating to. I understand why a lot of ppl don't like the stiffness because they prefer the more loose camera sway they where use to from the GT1 - GT3 days. At first I didn't like it either when first played GT4 but the more I played the more I started liking it and understood it gave me more feel for control. I do experiment in GT Sport with all the possible camera settings as well as the different views like 3d person, cockpit, etc. I change these settings each race to give me a different feel. I am the kind of person where if there is a setting to change I will use them all. I agree not to go too extreme where in this case the .25 adjustment is good enough.

@@feeldontbelieve6577 yeah for me a lot of racing games are easier to play in bumper cam than in chase cam because the chase cam is often too loose for me 😐 there are some exceptions like the ps1 era nfs games but generally I'll prefer bumper or hood cam over chase cam in most cases

@@jlewwis1995 I switch between them all. I like to keep myself occupied like that. I'll switch between them by sector, lap or race. I like the bumper cam in slower cars especially the ones that you can feel the body roll. However the bumper cam is the least favorite for me when it comes to fast cars like super cars or race cars and I prefer the hood cam more on those but my favorite is 3rd person. My favorite NFS HS and NFS HP2 :)

i always had trouble with GT4 because of its FOV. the really close and narrow FOV made it really hard for me to play it as well as i could play GT2 and GT3, so i always kinda wrote GT4 off and never gave it a fair shake. had NO CLUE about this secret menu until recently, found this video, changed the overscan to what you set it to and its SO MUCH BETTER to play now. im navigating the tracks easier, not messing up as much, all because i can see better in the game now. thanks for this. time to actually give GT4 its real fair shake, almost 17 years too late haha

My guess it's so if you got this running in demo format or for an audience ie. a sibling or a party/event, you can lock the game into allowing only certain races and or cars with no way for said audience to undo it. Basically a setting no one would be able to change unless you wanted to. Reminds me of the kid trophies in one of the earlier titles. Something like failing 20 or so times in a row in a license test without getting even a bronze trophy will reward you with a wakaba leaf "kid" trophy. But who really knows why it's so hidden? I'd personally love to tinker with the pov options but its such a process 🤣

My choice: Zoom=0.85, Distance=200, width=425, Height=200, aspect=0.96, overscan=0.75. This secret settings are made with Cockpit-view "in mind", to default a wide open well show Dashboard, and in conjunction with regulable Fov on R3 one of the best Cockpit view games available.

Hi Rowdy, can you use any of these settings to adjust distance inside the camera? I have the cockpit mod, and in the 787B there is some black sprite blocking most of the windshield. Cab I make rhe camera go forward to go through this sprite? Do these settings save or do they reset every time like the picture quality does? I figured this out. These settings stay and are not reverted on a playthrough. For the 787, the camera is always blocked by the black sprite, but roof cam is really close to cockpit view, so it will have to do.
