I know you should read the rules and all but it’s odd that when there are rules about pitting and tyres (mandated number of stops or compound use) there is absolutely no indicator in race or in the pit lane. Every other racing game has some form of reminder or indication that your current strategy is against the rules. GT7 should really look into implementing.

There is for mandatory compounds, they added in an indicator at some point. They don't have one for this rule though.

In reality, you would communicate with your team and create the tyre strategy, so it would be nice to add this feature to the game: establish the tyres types in advance, and they will be the default choices, and when you do the pit stop, you could change the option if you want.

There are like 3 rules this game forces you to check and if any of them are true and you missed it your race is ruined.. Mandatory pit stop, required tired compounds, and Required tire type change. Thes should be at the top and highlighted super clear because it is so easy to miss 1 of these needles in the rules haystack.

The worst part is that they didn't EVEN specify whether to wear all types of tires or not. Lots of players got caught unprepared, and I've earned 3rd place (initially 4th) at Watkins Glen thanks to those penalties.

I did that at mount panama for my first ever, almost, win. I drove a beautiful race but wasn't aware 2 compounds were needed, got a minute penalty and boom I was 4th

I did the same thing, however I only read the no required pitstop part not the required tyre type change. You would think if tyre type change was required, pit stop would not say that it's not required.

On paper in the same car and fastest lines lines yes it's the same. M/S is better overall in a race because its safer. You really don't know how the 1st couple laps will go which I think is the most caotic part of the race. Racer wanting to take positions early small bumping here and there. Especially in a close lobby. You can go S/M but genuinely you wanna be in the front with a much faster time than the rest. It lets you know you will get good value off your softs early and can cruise the rest of the race if you can get away from the pack. If you fall back position(s) then your waisting your best tires early just to reclaim position(s) you were already supposed to be in fighting to get to where you should be. And that could be for any discouraging reason. But there's a strategy for all compounds it really depends on multiple factors before and during a race.

I did this race in the Genesis. I'm not sure if the genesis is much softer on tires or just because I'm not nearly as quick as a b- class driver (I started pole with a 1:45.3), but I had no problem going 13 laps on the mediums and finishing on the softs. I did lose some time to people right behind me start on sorts and fighting passed me then fighting to keep me behind when their tires crossed over with the mediums around lap 5.

For anyone really..... usually they only serve a 1 minute penalty for not adhering to the tire rules. I've never seen 4 minutes before.

I did this race and was 6+ tenths quicker than the ppl behind in qualy and pulled a 5 second gap and was like wtf is going on when they all caught me and passed me I was like God damn I suck ass on these hards and they all got disqualified 😂

In my race in Latam GT2 League everybody read the rules so no pit penalties, it was a good victory to me from 5th using the Mazda RX with 13M 7S strategy

I got in to the race not having bought Soft and Mediums, did a no stop and actually got up from 15th to 8th, unforch that they enforced tire rules, would have been more interesting to have more varied strategies

That seems like a psychological difference. If you use the softs first, you can totally use them up - while someone who switches to them may either switch too soon or too late. Or are there traffic issues if you try to be contrarian?

No one ever really checks the race details bottom right.Did it on race day before i started my first race and even had enough time to squeeze in a test race to check out how good Soft and Medium would hold up and they didn't let me down. 6 laps on Soft and the rest on Medium plus a few not reading the race details got me up to fourth in the end.

Remember when these videos used to be, idk, fun? There used to be jokes and humor. Now I feel like I’m listening to a college TA narrate some historical proceeding. Then, the gap opened up. Then, I drifted one pixel too wide. Then, I qualified better. Then, I won the race. I’ve been watching a lot of the older videos from like 5 years ago. He seemed like he was having fun back then.

I’ll get a penalty for someone crashing in front of me and I bump them off the track, but when I get dive bombed and hit off, they get no penalty. I had a dude get upset with me when he was crashing his way down mount panorama because I bumped himAFTER he hit the barrier and bounced at me… and I still got the penalty.

Forgive me for what may seem like a stupid question but isn't it a good thing to be starting on softs in clean air (pole)? Or at the very least, it doesn't seem like a terrible thing. I still have to watch the rest of the video but it seems sound to me.

It's not the worst idea as you can pull away at the start and not worry about others affecting your race. Overall though, the softs last much better on lower fuel so it's better to use softs later in the race if possible. M13/S7 would probably have been the ideal strategy here.
