I just tested turning on ps5 pro re projection on the psvr2 ..I turned it on and off. The game still has re projection when you turn it off but it’s so much smoother with it on . I think alot of KZbinrs are confused by this option. I believe when you turn it on it’s enhanced for the ps5 pro and in my opinion is so much better than turning it off which in turn gives you the old version of re projection from the original ps5 . I find it way smoother with it on . There’s no ghosting on the cars anymore and they look so much better!
@mattburkeyАй бұрын
The place I've noticed it working well is looking sideways and extremely sharp corners (such as those on Eiger Nordwand) especially in something with little to no cockpit, like a go-kart. You can see some artefacting on SS Route X just above the side barriers. As you speed up or slow down the amount of positional reprojection will change. Basically you can l see little blocks of pixels being displaced incorrectly between things that are moving quickly (the barrier in the foreground) and things moving slower (the distant background). Aside from that, I generally find having PR turned on to be a much smoother and clearer experience. I tried to record footage for a side by side comparison but the footage captured on the console looks the same either way so the PR feature must be something done to inject in-between frames that the screen recorder doesn't capture, or its some kind of post process effect that is only visible in the visor.

Do you have the Same Problem with the hud when you Turn VR reprojection Mode on? Sometimes i cant even See my tirewear and everything with Text in the Screen flickers. Like artifacts???
@mattburkeyАй бұрын
@ I’ve spent a bit more time on it this evening and I see what you mean. I’d got my HUD set to the bare minimum but when I turned all the additional information on there was lots of visual artefacts to the overlays. It appears it’s applying positional reprojection to the entire image and not treating the HUD as a separate element. I’m noticing most artefacts on scenery were you have fast and slow moving elements overlapping (foreground stuff vs stuff on the horizon). I think it’s better if you drive VR with a minimal or no HUD but if you need all the bells and whistles visible then maybe turn PR off.

With Positional Reprojection on, I find cornering and looking sideways much more comfortable, less double imaging and a sharper focus on details. GT7's flat mode raytracing during races, VR mode PR option and FF7 Rebirth's Versatility mode have been the biggest and clearest improvements to games I've seen since upgrading to the Pro.

This is dope but I'm curious does VR make you sick at any point cuz I wouldn't mind buying the PS VR 2
@mattburkeyАй бұрын
It can do if you dive straight in at the deep end with a fast paced game with lots of movement. I generally advise people to start slow and work up to the more action packed stuff. By all means check it out, but you need to teach your brain to adapt. In the real world, we get information from what we see and hear, but also our balance from our inner ear and we can feel the effects of inertia on our bodies as we move and/or travel in a vehicle. In VR, you're not really moving. Because what you see and hear doesn't tally with what your body is feeling, it gets confused and your body thinks it's been poisoned. It's response is to feel sick so you can remove the poison. Some people are more susceptible to VR sickness than others. I would recommend some room scale or stationary experiences like Beat Saber, Moss and Max Mustard so your brain gets used to 'being somewhere else'. When people first experience VR and get stuck into a game, taking the headset off and being back in your room can be an oddly surreal feeling. In terms of GT7 and VR, a steering wheel set up is a much more natural and comfortable experience than playing with a joypad. Start with slow cars (I know, boring!) and flatter circuits. Then work up to faster cars and more pronounced terrain. Maybe leave the rally tracks until last, ha ha. Saying that, being able to turn into a powerslide and look out the side window naturally is far more comfortable than trying to flick your view with the thumbstick or relying on a chase camera. You don't realise just how steep some circuits (or that banking at Daytona) really are until you experience it in VR. I found tight corners and looking sideways in VR was a bit uncomfortable for me and could make me feel unwell on certain circuits on the base PS5 (even with my well trained VR legs), however PS5 Pro and the new Positional Reprojection option have made those issues much more pleasant, I'm really pleased! Anyway, aside from all that, play VR in smaller sessions, take breaks, put a fan on in the room and most importantly, if you start to feel sick, STOP IMMEDIATELY and take a break from it. Thinking you can fight through it will usually just make it worse. Take a break, have some food and drink and play a bit more later. GT7 represents hybrid VR gaming at its best. Playing a good race on the flat screen and suddenly want to play it in VR? Pause the game and put the headset on and unpause. Boom. You're in VR. Alternatively, if you're midway through a VR race and you feet a bit unwell, just take the headset off and you can seamlessly continue on the TV. There is no flat/VR mode as such, it's always both all the time. Putting the headset on or not dictates how the game renders, it's really that seamless and basically God-tier VR. The VR showrooms are excellent. Only the local 2-4 player mode doesn't support VR for obvious reasons. Ultimately, I'd recommend asking around friends, relatives and co-workers to see if you know anyone with a VR headset (whether it's PSVR/PSVR2/Quest, etc.) and just try some stuff out so you can see what VR is for yourself. Looking at videos on KZbin can never quite prepare you for what VR FEELS like. You think 'oh yeah, it's just first person' but what it doesn't convey is that sense of presence. You are THERE. Wherever you look, up down, side to side, over, under... you're somewhere else. It's incredible, but it takes a bit of brain re-training for some experiences. Sorry for the essay, I can appreciate what a big investment the headsets are and this I feel is the best advice I can give having playing VR since PSVR launched in 2016.
@RiCH_926Ай бұрын
@mattburkey no that's dope thank you for helping me out giving me the information I was wondering cuz right now some games make me sick on just playing on my TV which I never understand why that happened but back in the day when they first came out with like the phone style VR where you stick your phone in the headset I tried it at Best buy I think I was on it for 15 minutes and when I got off it I was sick for the rest of the day it was crazy headaches felt so nasty it was just horrible it was like my brain couldn't read calibrate and go back to normal and that's what scares me but I think that's a different type of VR I really want to get the PS VR2 but it's a lot of money for me to find out I can't handle it You know what I mean You know it would be sick it's if they came up with some kind of a hologram game I think that would be pretty cool or if you could turn your room into VR without putting goggles on or if it was something like ready player One that would be
@mattburkeyАй бұрын
@ a lot of phone type VR was really just 360 videos. Like you could look anywhere, sure, but you couldn’t move closer to or away from objects. There was no sense of presence. With true VR, there are multiple outward facing cameras (at least on PSVR2 and Quest) which anchor the headset in physical space meaning you can move around as you would in the real world a bit. A friend of mine got back motion sickness from his TV. He added backlights to his TV to illuminate the wall behind it, he said being able to see a distinct frame at the edge of the TV helped him stop feeling sick. Trying things out before you buy them is good, but at the same time you never really get enough time to explore everything or get to take everything in or get used to it. One of my favourite VR games is Beat Saber, you just stand (or dance) on the spot. I can play for hours and work up a sweat but not feel sick. GT7, I’m mostly always alright but sometimes it can get me 🤢 I dick around with my Quest 3 on VR mods on PC for GTA V and Horizon Zero Dawn and stuff which look amazing, but are nauseating as hell very quickly because the gameplay and mechanics aren’t suited to VR, also they use a rendering hack to make the VR work which is uncomfortable, but I’ve built up a tolerance over time.
