Hello, We just took our 30G for the first time this weekend and notice we lost water on way to camp. Great idea!

My 2021 GD 28G had the same problem only we would lost all of our water in a 4 hr drive to Colorado from NM. Grand Design paid for the dealer to fix the issue. They had to drop the under belly and run a secondary drain line for venting purposes. Your idea is a popular one and I did add the sharkbite valves to mine but only after the vents were added. I have the original drawing that Kent Roberts of GD sent me if your interested. I would recommend you consider doing the GD idea for warranty purposes.

Your videos are so awesome. They're informative, knowledgeable, and most of all, real life related. You see videos by dealers praising the product but you actually show how it fits, how much it weighs, etc... I'm very blessed to stubble upon your channel. You should have millions of views... Please keep it up, I've never commented on any KZbinrs posts, but your videos deserve top search results! Great job!

I had the same issue with my 21G. I thought the missing water was due to the overflow but I finally realized it was completely something else. I explain: the 2 fresh water tanks are connected together via a small diameter pipe. The water level sensor is the tank which the freshwater is being poured into. The consequence is: you stop the filling process too soon because the first tank is overflowing AND the control board showings full tanks!! But it isn’t true!! It takes time to let water equalize is both tanks. ! Otherwise, Half an hour later, at the camp site, after the tanks had time to leveled out, you realize the camper is not full!!! The importance of this effect depends on the filling flow. greater the flow, more chance both tanks won’t be filled completely. Adding a flowmeter can give feedback of the actual volume filled. Also, since it restricts the flow a bit, there’s less chance to have the false « tank full ».

If you’re going to plumb the one between the axles back further, plumb them both together and use one valve to control both overflows together. No need to have two points of failure.

I have the same trailer..I couldn't get more than 75 gallons in it. I used 2 elbows on each vent to run the pipe outboard then up so it's higher than the tank. I have to remove it to winterize. I wrote a letter to grand design about all the problems I've had. They actually called me to discuss. I am currently building another cargo trailer conversion to replace it. Shame because it is such a beautiful trailer and perfect size.. just tired of fixing issues and I hate the nautilus system. Great video though, thanks.

On my 230 there was only one overflow pipe so I was able to add a tee before the added ball valve and ran a line to the wet bay and installed an end of line vacuum breaker. Works great . Bought a new 280 and have two overflows next to each other. Would like to see a diagram of the water system before I try adding a venting system.

I closed my vent while we were hooked to city water. Prior to leaving for our trip home I wanted to add about a quarter tank of fresh water. I forgot to open the vent, and heard a very loud bang. I had snapped a bolt holding my brace under my fresh water tank. Luckily no other damage occurred. I repaired my bracket once I was home, that is when I found out what I had done. So yes, always open the overflow vent before filling.

Great video 📹 and explanation of the view and why this is happening. Do you have links to the same ball valve & Sharkbite that you used? I'd like to be able to know I've got the right product that'll just push on the overflow tube and be done with it. TIA

I haven't had any issues with the fuel tank and don't know of any one who has. I'm sure it's vented but don't think it will siphon.

Could you plumb the lines together with an elbow and a T, then have one ball valve at the end? It would be nice to see a tank plumbing schematic to see why there are two lines (front & back of tank?) to vent it. That would make it super easy with only one valve to turn.
@tetradgroup
@tetradgroup 3 жыл бұрын
That's actually what I want to do, however I can't find a schematic on that tank. I'm not sure if it's two halves that are plumbed together or how it actually works to be honest with you. I am going to plumb the other ball valve further back to the rear one so I can reach them both at the same time. Unless I can see exactly how it's plumbed I'll leave two valves for now.

Should contact grand design and tell them to fix that. Also i think most rvs need a lower drain/tap for dog dishes or water bottles or even your hands. My camplite had this and loved it. Also, why do they have two overflow tubes?

We originally were going to buy a 25G, and after watching all the info you provided regarding the weight distribution, we ended up buying a 28G instead. Thanks for all your info. The 28G unfortunately suffers the same issue with water loss, I actually did this exact same fix on the overflow tubes, but once we get where we are camped and I open them up, they drain out still and it drains out a lot. I have all the filling items you have shown on yours and I put the pressure on very low so the waters goes in slow to avoid pressure and over expanding, but unfortunately we are still getting large amounts of water loss, even only filling it up to about 50 or so gallons, and these things should hold 100. Anyway, any suggestions would be appreciated. Again thank you for all your help.

Thanks again for your video. I had the SAME problem. I installed the same hardware as you and still cannot break the siphon!!! Dealership wants $170 just to look at the problem
@tetradgroup
@tetradgroup 2 жыл бұрын
Most people leave the valves closed. Use about 5-10 gallons of water and then open the valves and that suction should break the siphon. Hope this helps!

Have you made any modifications to the structural supports under your freshwater tank, to be able to travel with a full tank? My service dealer is telling me not to travel with a full tank because of support failure. Thanks

My tanks fell out about a month ago, just sitting still. I traveled a few times with full tanks but never again. I am currently working on building a much better support for the tanks.

Nice tip thanks. We're ordering a 2022 next week. Looking to do mostly boondocking (Adding 300AH lithium batteries to the front with the 1000w inverter and Generator). What are your overall thoughts on this TT for boondocking after experiencing it? Won't be bringing a SxS or anything, just like this model for the patio space.
@tetradgroup
@tetradgroup 3 жыл бұрын
We love it for boondocking, especially now that I fixed the water issue. Now the water lasts us, family of 4, for several days with plenty to spare. Also consider upgrading the propane tanks to the 30# tanks if your in a colder environment. The large open space takes awhile to heat up and the extra propane is peace of mind for longer boondocking trips. Generator is of course a must and works great for us. No complaints with this unit. I was concerned about lack of storage at first but we have room to spare after loading up but most of our trips are less than a week so we don't need tons of supplies.

my overflow line is the green and while accordian type line. What would I use for that? two rv places were puzzled by how they had the plumbing in my 2005 forest river lexington 210D. Only remedy they had was over 1K to replumb the entire fresh water tank plumbing.
