Two grey tanks is a brilliant idea! How is the quality of this camper? We've been looking at Grand Design for several years and they were purchased by another company. Not sure if they are still built as well or not. Thanks!

@@sandym4875 quality is very high for the price point. We were impressed by the finishes. I would put it with coachman as far as build. The customer service is very good. Like all trailers there were small issues. They have all been handled. They were purchased by Winnebago so the quality is still there.

@@sandym4875 I would also add the grey tanks are fantastic. The front gray tank is hooked up to the kitchen. The rear is connected to the bathroom sink and shower. We just did a 4 day weekend with 2 kids and 3 adults without using a portable gray tank.

I have this rv. It weighs over 5500 lbs and has an actual tongue weight of over 600lbs. I guess grand design weighs the rv and tongue weight before it goes out because ours had a paper from the factory that had the actual weights hand written. Mine was 593 lbs without the battery and (empty pass through) It would be really hard on a mid size truck. It’s a heavy little beast. Also it has two grey tanks. The bads: The kitchen sink has a water pump to drain the sink and I have to take it apart and clean it good about every 3 months. The fridge heats the pantry and it gets really hot in the upper part so I can’t really put any delicate food inside. The goods: grey tank capacity, the crazy amount of storage, porcelain toilet, awesome ducted a/c, blackout roller shades, motion sensing lights, huge huge awning, electric outlet in the pass through so I can keep my drill and blower charged, nicest bathroom in any tt I’ve ever been in, electric and gas water heater, very comfy bed... etc I’m sure I’m forgetting a bunch.

I was thinking of getting rid of the bunks and putting in a table for a home office. For me the bunks are useless. I would only use them to store items in blue totes. I love the spacious feel, the bathroom, and the kitchen. I do not like the bunks, the dinette and the tv placement. A 4th item for the love category would be the awesome bathroom. If I were to buy this, I would add a nice tv in the bedroom, a home office, and 4 Solar panels. Matt, you are doing a great job but... I gotta tell you I very much prefer the videos with Andrea showing us the trailer features. I think Will does a good job helping out but Andrea has a very pleasant demeanor it makes my day a little better. When Will is helping I don't get that feeling? Andrea and you compliment each other and I really like that.

Really like this one! Dislikes: 1. No window at head of the bed 2. TV placement in both living area and bedroom (rather have it straight in front of viewing area) 3. The plaid cushions (agree it doesn’t match the gorgeous euro cabinets) Likes: 1. The kitchen!!! Roomy, lots of light from windows, counter space. 2. The bathroom is amazing!!!! 3. The double bunk area with windows...though like other commenters, I’d be curious about a design that had an office space instead. Bonus like: lightweight and four seasons Thanks for bringing back the towables!!! It would be great if you could also show accessibility with slides in. ...Love you guys!

Great video!! 3 (or more!) things I don't love: 1: want bunks where you can configure the height of at least the top bunk. 2: the blue lights. I want mood lighting with a warm light/bright light combo. 3: would like more solar capacity. 4: more shelving inside the shower and the towel bar hung lower on the door to accommodate an over door rack. 3 things I love: 1: the towability. 2: the color scheme 3: all the storage space. I'm on a roll now...4: the large bathroom 5: the countertops 6: the oven 7: the bedroom door 8: the outdoor kitchen 9: you can actually stow surfboards in the pass-through storage 8: There is a place for my dog food bowls in front of the kitchen pantry 9: There is a place for a full-sized trashcan under the flip up counter. 10: the backup camera option. 11: the outdoor kitchen/entertainment area!! There is a lot to like. Thanks for the walk through!

Welcome back Andrea! That is a great towable, dry weight is great. Lots of things I love, but the top three are: outdoor kitchen in such a small camper, nice open plan, which I would include well thought out kitchen. And finally, a human sized bathroom. If it came with a instant on hot water heater, then that'd be a huge win. The shower is fantastic. Things I didn't like (these are really minor things), no convection microwave (I"m assuming it since y'all didn't point it out), the specs say 7 can sleep in it, but I really only see 6 as possible. I wish there was a small wardrobe separate from the ones next to the main bed. I've had a 30 foot Salem with those same small storage areas, and they really can't hold much hung up clothes. I'd say this is the best laid out camper of its size.

Agree. But unfortunately, GeneralRV (anywhere) doesn't carry the Lance which I was looking for, and I don't think Arctic Fox was listed either among the manufacturers on GeneralRV's web site. It is a great website to sort on for what they do carry, but could be better if they would include a pdf of the actual units showing included options in calculating the MSRP.

I am a full-timer and am very excited about the XLS. I currently have a 5th wheel that is much heavier and larger than I want. There are several things that I am a huge fan of on the XLS. First and perhaps most prominent is the fabulous bathroom and shower. I am a large person so the large shower and spaciousness of the RR are VERY important to me. I like the low profile A/C. The power jack and a power awning with LED lights. Now for a few things, I would like to see available. Instead of the dinette, I would prefer theater seating with a stowable table that could be placed in front of the seats. Or a banquette setup. I don't have a need for the bunk beds so perhaps use the space for a desk/office setup allowing a person to work while on the road. The decor, I would like to see something more European in design and modern. I would like to see white cabinets, perhaps even doing 2 colors, one for uppers and a different color for the lowers. Furniture should be lighter in color. I would like to incorporate solar panels at least 2 and set up for a generator. I do a lot of boondocking.

I love the huge bathroom and spacious kitchen. I love the double bunks instead of single bunks. And I love the private master bedroom. I wasn’t expecting any of those things in a trailer this size. Great use of space to maximize sleeping capacity. I agree with Matt that the plaid design on the dinette cushions doesn’t go with the decor. I would have like to have seen it prepped for solar. I would love to see reviews on the smaller lightweight trailers that can be towed with cars or small SUVs.

We have been looking at a IMAGINE XLS 21BHE - so very similar - but no slide and couch/murphy bed set up and we are actually liking that layout more - same dinette/bunk and bathroom - and same outside setup. BTW you can flip and swap sides on the dinette cushions so they are the solid color like the bottom cushions. Thank you for your opinions as well. Dislikes Wish the cooktop on the outdoor kitchen was oriented the other direction so the lid doesn't block the storage area so you can use it while cooking. Would like to see some sort of storage area/device cubby in the bunks (we'll probably add nets to hold the kids devices while charging) Would like a Door on the end of the Dinette storage area for easier access Things we love - The bathroom! It has better use of space than our bathroom at home. Bunks are perfect for our tween boys - and they each have their own space - but don't take a lot of space - and they have their own charging stations in each bunk and privacy curtains Love the colors - not too light, not too dark - and a bit weathered looking on flooring and cabinetry so should wear well and not show small scuffs. Bonus - I'm not sure if you showed it - but also really like the shoe cubby under the dinette right inside the door - could be used for shoes or a great place for dog food/water bowls too.

I have this one and I paid $23,500 after discounts (that was pre-COVID-19). Grand design doesn’t really give huge discounts like you see on some others. But at $23,500 you get a lot of stuff. The only thing really above this in quality is Lance or airstream if you really stretch it. The reason we didn’t do the lance was because they don’t do ducted a/c yet. The a/c on this one is the 15,000 BTU Coleman Mach 8 ultra low profile. And it is nice!

Sorry, late to the party, didn't see these videos. Thanks for having links in 'comparable' model videos that came out later. I like many things on this camper, such as good price for the nice Euro styling inside, I like the overall layout, and the dinette table that folds down, or can go outside. I love that it's a 4 season camper, that's a big deal for us, we can travel all over the US and sometimes there's a little snow. I love the all vinyl flooring, glad it's under the dinette. I like the bigger bathroom, and that outside kitchen, though small, is amazing. The last things I like are the enormous awning, and the lighter weight. Things I'm not a fan of: I'd prefer a convection microwave oven, but that's an easy upgrade. One thing I don't like in this design, and that's if you close the master bedroom door, you can't get any AC from the single roof air. I don't need a TV but that placement makes no sense, but there's really no other place for it to go. if folks really do fill up 80 gallons of gray water (maybe they're boondocking) be careful, that would add over 600 lbs to the overall weight, you'd want to get right to a dump station asap. Love the videos!

Hi Matt and Andrea! Excellent review, as always. I am usually over on your motorhome channel. But, I think we are going to go ahead and just get a small couples trailer to use for the next 3-5 years while I'm still working. Then, move up to a motorhome for our planned 1-2 month trips. This trailer is bigger than what we can pull. So, my comments will be from me interfacing your comments on the construction and set up of this rig and the floorplan of the Grand Designs 17MKE (a smaller murphy bed option). If we go the direction of a 17MKE, I hope that your company could get one of those! I really like the bedroom storage surrounding the head of the bed. Great hanging section for both sides, as well as several drawers on each side. The little nooks on both sides of the beds that go into the hanging sections are great too!! The prices on these Grand Designs travel trailers are very consistent (at least for the ones less than 30ft)-- 30K-ish. The bathroom on this rig rocks!! wow! If you get a chance to review a 17MKE, I really think you will like it (well, at least as much as one could for a 22ft trailer)! The kitchen in it slaughters ALL of these small couples trailers. It looks like the counter (with sink and stove) is like 10feet long! The trade off is the bathroom is not as large as in this rig you are reviewing here. Some items I don't like about these Grand Design XLS series trailers are they still use the older siding manufacturing (not the azdel), they have leaf springs vice those torsion springed axles, and that we don't have the options to tailor the cooking items in the kitchen (to have or not have a convection oven or traditional oven). Have a great day!!

Hey guys! So many likes about this travel trailer: the space - the farmhouse door in the bedroom, nice kitchen and pantry, and bathroom. Dislikes: TV - such a weird place for it - dinette instead of couch - and the dual beds in the bunk room. Not sure why manufacturers always go drab brown with everything, but at least give options for the buyer. For instance, why not have a fold down bed in that bunk area so it can be used as an office? Or, a nice sofa with tables that can be set up instead of dinette only? You know what would really be great???? Slipcover options for the sofa and/ or the dinette??? Does the TV swing out, if not, it should....very impractical like it is. Anyway, thanks for another great review. God bless!

I love this one! The storage is incredible, The kitchen and bathroom are the best I've seen. Also, it looks like you can actually get up on that top bunk with the dinette right there. I haven't seen a ladder on any bunks, and many where a ladder would block access past it. Matt needs to climb up there, show us how to do it! Especially those of us who are extra fluffy. I didn't care for was the wet bay, it looks a little awkward. I also didn't like the TV placement. I don't watch much TV, but I would want to if it was a nasty weather day. - I like the dinette for the same reason, a table is great for puzzles, games, etc. But, I'm alone, so the placement is fine. I like the bunk area, but I do love those that have a fold up lower for a place to stow things like bikes or large items. That bathroom though, makes up for everything I don't like.

Here are my three things. Three things I dislike about this travel trailer (this is tough): 1) I don’t like that there is no couch - if you have a rainy day while you’re camping, there is nowhere to sit comfortably and wait out the bad weather (maybe if the dinette was u-shaped and you could take the table away for more space); 2) (and I’m reaching here) I wish there was a sink in the outdoor kitchen and a propane quick connect (unless there is one and I missed it); 3) indoor tv placement - only the people sitting on one side of the dinette and maybe anybody laying in the bunks can really see it, unless someone is in the kitchen doing dishes. With there being so much sleeping space (enough for six comfortably), I feel like there should be more indoor seating and space to sit and eat together or play games, especially if you have a rainy day on your trip. Here are the three things I like about this trailer: 1) the bathroom! The shower is big enough for the bigger guys I’d be traveling with, there is so much space - you could get changed in there, the sink is perfect, and I love all the storage; 2) I love the look of the inside of the trailer - the euro style cabinets, especially in the bedroom, the amount of storage in a small, lightweight trailer is amazing; 3) the outside - I love the almost full length awning that covers the whole side of the trailer, that there is a spot for an outdoor tv (perfect for nascar camping when you’re watching race coverage in between the events you attend), that there is an outdoor kitchen, even if it is a little small - prevents having to go in and out for cold drinks or when prepping a meal), and the outdoor basement/pass through storage. I also like that it is a four season trailer - you can camp in all different weather year round, rather than only being able to camp during a certain part of the year. And finally, I am super impressed with all of the outdoor and indoor features (despite my issue with seating) on a lightweight, affordable Imagine travel trailer - it’s pretty perfect for entry level travelers (or travelers that have smaller travel trailers with fold out beds and are looking for something a step up with less set up time) - it seems pretty perfect for my family: myself, my husband, and my 9yo son (who would sleep on the top bunk), and if we travel with my parents, they could have the bedroom and my husband and I could sleep on the bottom bunk - there are so many possibilities for travelers we could bring along on an adventure! Overall, I give it 4.5 stars - I’d give it 5 stars if the interior seating situation was more conducive to relaxing and being able to seat all of our travelers comfortably). LOVE YOU GUYS - KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!!

I'm new to camping, but it seems to me that a very nice new tow-able and a new truck to tow it, can be had for well under 100k. It seems a better value than a traditional RV. And more versatility, too. What am I missing. I love this solution. Thanks Matt.

I love this trailer, but the only thing that drives me nuts with your reviews is... when the TV is high on the wall you don't show that it tilts down. You need to do side to side and tilt. To me if it doesn't tilt down then the picture won't be as good. Great review! Matt looked like he was staying in the big beautiful bathroom.

Matt, why don't you like the steps? They are certainly a step up from the solid steel ones on my aging trailer. Grand Design really is good at designing these units, resulting in lots of copy cats. Large bathrooms, lots of storage, and full size queen bed are awesome. I would love to see them use some higher end materials now, frameless dual pane windows, and fiberglass front and rear caps. I want quality creature comforts, but don't need a giant fifth wheel or motor home.

Love the plaid cushions even if they dont match the style. The light colors do. Love the countertop space with window. Love the bathroom space with Window. Dislikes: I've seen bigger ovens. Wish there was access to the storage below (hamper) with the sides of the queen bed. And wish the whole thing was modern farmhouse style with white cabinets ♡

Not a fan of membrane roofs. I prefer the full walk-on. Max air covered fans are a must. I really like this. The roof kills it. Compare this to the Rockwood Mini Lite 2509S. I think the TV pulls out and swivels. ?? A Shower Miser Water Saver would be nice. ALSO, will you please show bathroom access with the slide closed. Great review.

As this was one of the RV's that my roommate and I were looking at (thus the bunks) I was watching your review (with Andrea) and wanted to tell y'all that that bedroom door is a BARN DOOR so the plaid design on the dinette was right one for the "farm" look! We've narrowed our want down to either the GD Imagine XLS 21BHE or the Lance 2185 (we only have a 2wd Toyota Tundra!

Are there any issues with the kitchen being on a slide? Had a TT that had the kitchen on the slide and it leaked, could not get it fixed. This would be a great TT for empty nesters. I would like to see a similar layout with no bunks, and a door on the back to allow Kayaks or bikes to be stored. I would get rid of the dinnete and put in a theater couch. Enjoy your vids, I am interested in this class of TT, keep them coming.

Dislikes: 1) Interior style. I like the lighter glossy colors on the upper cabinets, but the satin / matte finish on the rest looks odd to me. Also don't like the dinette checked pattern or colors. 2 & 3) These aren't fair because this model isn't made for me, but I didn't have any other obvious dislikes. So bunks and the weight are the only things I came up with. Likes: 1) 80" Bed 2) The Kitchen. I like the layout with the counter space and storage, plus it has good appliances. 3) The bathroom. Counter space for stuff we use every day, storage for stuff we don't, a great shower, and the Four P's!

Great rv! Impressive storage and that bathroom! Wow! I just wish you could say the sale price. I know it’s not your call but even a ballpark price would be helpful. We are hoping to buy a small towable next spring, I really don’t want to have to talk to a salesperson while window shopping for every trailer we think might be a possibility. But anyway, we love your show and never miss a review. You two have really opened our eyes and we’ve gotten so much useful information! Keep up the great work!

Liked it, lighter weight good. Instead of bunks, might prefer a dinette there, and instead of where the dinette is theater seating better, not sure of TV placement. Bathroom pretty good PPP!! Outside storage good. Don't like propane, prefer all electric

Dislikes: 1. The retro plaid on the dinette. Not my thing. 2. The dinette seems really low. 3. While I like the size of the shower, I don't care for the ornate fake tile. When I see stuff like that, all I think about is how hard it's going to be to keep it clean. I prefer smooth surfaces. Likes: 1. European cabinetry - nicely streamlined, lighter colors so trailer doesn't feel oppressive like they often do with darker colors. 2. The entire kitchen. Huge sink, plenty of storage, AND a pantry! 3. The HUGE bathroom with all the storage.

3 things I don’t love..... I wish the kitchen window was larger/longer. Wish the awning wasn’t so dark but WOW ITS HUGE!! I feel the dark attracts more heat. And I’d rather lighter colors inside. 4 things I love..... I LOVE that bathroom!! Thank you for putting a window in the bathroom!! I LOVE how long the awning is!!! The space for such a smaller trailer is really good. Love the windows in the bunks because it makes it less claustrophobic! #KatyTX ❤️

There is a lot to like about this Grand Design, but dislikes - lack of solar pre-wire. Not really a dislike, but more a suggestion. Two seniors don't need a bunkhouse BUT I am intrigued with the possibility of that space vs a non-bunkhouse model. Wondering how easy would be to remove the bunks and store (for later re-sale) and make a dedicated office in that space. Last dislike is front, while aero design, wish it had the acrylic/glass window similar to Lance...view stars while sleeping! Likes - Outside storage appears tall enough to accommodate an inverter generator, two gray tanks. Bath size and Kitchen design with euro cabinets.

LIKES, DISLIKES, QUESTIONS... Like the size/ layout is the bathroom, but don't like that the Door hits the Dinette and doesn't seem to open all the way. Like the Bedroom with the 60-80 Queen and the 2021.5 Upgrades of the bedside cubbies and under bed storage box. Like the cabinet and shoe garage at front door. Dislike that the other side of Dinette has no storage, tho. But I really like that there is a Camp Side Window in the Dinette area. I Like the layout, Counter Space and Pantry in the kitchen, but dislike that there seems not to be Good place for silverware and utensils. Also, are there any outlets in the kitchen area besides the one under the TV? And speaking of TV, hard to tell from a Video, but seems like the TV can be angled nicely toward the Dinette and Bunks from that position. Plus, luckily, you could place A TV in Bedroom. Would LOVE to hear from Owners about TV position and Kitchen Outlet placement! I'm currently shopping and This one is on my Short List! THANKS! Matt and Andrea GREAT JOB, as usual on the presentation of this Imagine XLS! Thanks! Take Care and Stay Safe! 🌻

I actually like these windows better than frameless windows. I think you get better ventilation. Things I don’t like: I think the dinette looks small. We often camp with my sister and brother in law. Our current Coachman Apex Nana 191 bhs sits 4 adults easily and, believe it or not, has more storage than this trailer! But I like the porcelain toilet and full size queen bed and struts to hold up the end of the bed to get to the storage. We don’t have any of those features.

I believe that the RV industry should put the potable water refill port on the opposite side from the Flush ports. That way smart folks like me won't mix up the hose hookups (facetious) This RV should offer a twin bed option floor plan and place vertical storage in between, thereby shifting the overheads to the sides above the windows. I see no real reason for the drop down table bed, because a family of 4 is already covered. A family of 4 should be thinking a larger design as it would get crowded fast on this small of a floor plan.
