Sweet! Easy to follow tutorial. I'm lazy so I used Giaffos plugin to create the execs (the new version makes executors and you can choose the exec number) , edited your macro to suit my labeling and groupings, adjusted layout. Works like a charm. Thanks!

i know this is kind of an older video at this point, but i liked how easy it was to follow. i built it once before, and it was great! this time, however, i have done the exact process... images are copying over in the image pool, but the "filled" images don't appear on the layout. do you know where i could have gone wrong?

Hi Ethan, great tutorial. but in my case there's something that didn't work. The function of changing colors does work in the with my fixtures and I can see changes in the image pool, sadly It don't change the unfilled rectangles to filled in the layer view. I only see the unfilled rectangles. Don't know why this didn't work. Do you got an idea? Thanks!

Thank you so much! This was actually seriously helpful - the beams I use are Martin MH1s, which get some strange colour combinations with its wheels, and the Color Cop program helped me brilliantly. With any luck, I'll have it done on my showfile in a few hours 😅

So I did this a few times over, but still not seeing filled images when I click on the unfilled images. The image pool is showing the images copying over where they're supposed to go, and color information is being transferred to my fixtures, but in color picker they're not showing the filled images. Am I missing something? Did this on 3.3

It sounds like you assigned the wrong images to the layout view....make sure the right images are assigned to the correct macros

You could create a macro that offs all the colour executors and then runs the image copier macro so that all the images are the empty ones

I’m confused on how to import these images and macros onto my ma? Does this not work on an actual console? I downloaded everything onto a drive from my computer then I put the drive into my ma and when I try to import it nothing shows up? Is there a certain format I’m supposed to download it in?

C:\ProgramData\MA Lighting Technologies\grandma\gma2_V_3.9.60 (my version, in this case) and then you have the macro or image folders. Paste there what you want.

I’m 4 years late to the video, but if you see this, what does the $ mean when copying the images to the other images? Is it referencing the folder the images came from? I’m trying this in ma3 with my own images, but they don’t seem to work with the copy command. Any idea why?

PAYD2KILL schweizergamer they are the exact ones used in the video. Opening them in windows will make them appear small. Import into MA and assign them and they won't be (if they are you are zoomed out).

I followed the video in v3.3.4.3 and while the images copied over in the Image Pool with each touch of the Macro in the LayoutView; the images do not update in the LayoutView from unfilled to filled?

Got it sorted...;). Really kinda tricky getting the correct #image in the proper Layout slot. I found by selected the entire row and giving them all the 'dummy' label of their correct row, made selecting the rest of the correct image files easier... Thanks!

I'm stuck on the assigning macro step. I've made the layout view and followed your instructions carefully. When I type (in my case) Assign Macro 16 Thru 124 nothing happens. No feedback in the command line. The text just vanishes. I've tried Zoom to fit and i have fixtures patched to the show. I'm running v3.2.2.16. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

Andrew Perreira first make sure you have the right layout selected in the layout view (watch this video if you need help with the layout view kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3u5maFnjMt6ZpY). If you have the right one selected then typing "Assign macro x thru y" and tapping on the layout view should assign it. Otherwise,type in "Assign Macro X thru y At Layout Z" and that should work,as mentioned make sure the correct layout is selected in the layout view

+Miqueias Teixeira are you asking if you can create the colour picker without having your fixtures patched? If so you have a couple options. First you can just create the executors and update them later. Or,you can create fixtures and use those to create the colour picker execs then you can clone those to your fixtures when you patch your fixtures

jamese200 hey man,download the macros and you will see they refernce executors 99.1 thru 99.7 so you just store your colors for different groups to 99.1 thru 99.6 and all yours groups with the same colors to 99.7,make sure to download the macros and have a look at them,I will definitely start an MA Basics series!

You should be able to ride the executor time fader for the execs that the macros engage. Make sure they aren't on ignore exec time and that should work.

Rubitsium I'm not gonna lie,you've lost me. Are you trying to ask what you have to do at exec page 99? If so,you have to actually create the execs with the colour information. All the colour picker is doing is referencing those execs and copying images

Rubitsium press store,tap on pool item 99,the click on it. You're now on page 99. Go to the execs and store all the colour information.

jamese200 you just need to store the colors to executors 99.1 thru 99.6,which mean you select your lights,select the color and store that to those execs,one exec per type give it a super prio and you're done,I unfortunately won't make a video about that as it is basic programming

No problem, to get to exec page 90,open an "pages exec" pool in a window (under pools),click on exec page 90 and store to the first 6 executors

I got the executor part, now I dont know how to store only the colors in the cue and not the fader value, whenever I try to record it, and recall it with the picker, the lights go off, but when i turn them on, its on the right color.

Launch Gaming only have colour information in the programmer...ie. Don't at at the lights or turn them on or anything. Just work with the colour parameters

Idk if im just doing i it wrong then, i clear everything out, I select the fixtures, I select a color (ex:red) and type "store executor 99.1 cue 2" and it doesnt work, but only for white and red. All of the other colors work, however, whenever I press a working color, if the lights are off, it turns them on even though they werent stored on. Look dude,I'm not gonna lie. If you've just started MA then leave this for a later time. You need to firmly understand MA to use this effectively. From what I can tell,you don't fully understand the idea of multiple executor pages. The colour picker references execs 99.1 thru 99.7 with each exec relating to the group. You need to save the colour information for each colour for each group to the relevant execs. Does anyone here (including Ethan!) know if there is a way to use this color picker layout view but have it apply while storing cues? Seems like this is designed for people busking/stomping and not needing to store these colors, like Christian Jackson.. If you store to cue (even if the cue also has super priority) it will not save.

Kai Colucci you could accomplish this by adding a line to the macros that sets colour presets to the fixtures but this is primarily meant for live busking

camiel Gonzalez exec 99.1 refers to the first executor on page 99 of execs,and 99.2 refers to exec 2 on page 99 etc.

The only way I could get it to execute playbacks was the put the page number before the decimal place instead of after (goto executor 2.80 cue 1)

Yeah it is...you probably shouldn't be doing this if you're so new to MA. Learn the basics first,if you really want a colour picker than take a look at the LUA Plugin stuff in the description
