I know a lot of weight and substance is often placed on the soul and lyrics of these clips/songs, but if we momentarily strip out the 'culture' and 'sacredness,' what we're left with is essentially a 'jam band.' And in that context, the technical mastery is nothing short of astounding. Those razor-sharp harmonies are tossed around with effortless precision, sans auto-tune, like nothing more than taking a breath. The chops, the licks, the finger-work on that array of strings, the only kind of strings I dig, could rival any of my rock idols, past or present. I think the only fallacy, perhaps tragedy, to their seemingly effortless performances, is that these guys just wake up and walk down from the dew covered mountaintops being able to pull this stuff off at this level. These guys put in their 1000 hours, make no mistake, and I like celebrating that aspect of their craft more than anything.

Mark Wilkins think a lot of them used fingerpicks back in the day where as now almost everyone uses a standard flat pick

Imagine paying only one dollar instead of fifteen in some cases for a music book!
@karlheven83284 жыл бұрын
You have to adjust for inflation, people didn't get paid as much as now. Nowadays salaries are obviously higher across the board too, so the difference is not as extreme as your numbers may suggest

+Thomas Benson Have you noticed Lester calls him Mylo instead of Hylo at the beginning of this show? Iv'e heard him do it a few other times also. Maybe Lester was getting forgetful already. He is older than most rest of the band but not that much older
@theobluebird72833 жыл бұрын
+ daniel morris Interesting observation. Well, Lester was 10 years older that Earl and was around 50 on this show, not too much for being forgetful. Maybe 'Mylo' was some personal joke in the band.
