Earl Scruggs was to a banjo like Chet Atkins was to a guitar. They both invented their own style like no one else could do.

Those guys were HOT. Thanks for these uploads! Who'd thought I'd become a Foggy Mountain Boys enthusiast at age 66?! I never had a chance to really be exposed to them, other than the Beverly Hillbillies. They had a peace, a mastery , a distinctive style that transcends any other bluegrass I've heard - so far, anyway...You've really enriched my life with these uploads!

That is what it is all about. These are the great ones , love to listen to these guys. I grew up listening to the Grand Ole Opry . There were so many fine musicians , glad we have these memories to listen to.

Shreveport, 1964, watched these on TV every Saturday afternoon. We had to run the kids out of the house and lock the door so we wouldn't be disturbed. It was sacred time for us.

Grandpa told me these Ole boys came up from Nashville and played in Centerville north of Carmi illinois. Was a big wing dang. The old Germans, paid back by filling the old model with corn whiskey, shine. It wasn't made in Tennessee. It came from illinois., still make it.
