1st I love Sheila's idea for a super power. What a beautiful hike. I look forward to going to Sequoia NP. The hotel reminds me of a cabin we stayed in when I was a kid. My parents complained how bad the bed was that I dad went to buy plywood to put under the mattress to make it firmer. They lifted up the mattress to put the plywood down, there already was plywood. My parents laughed about that for years. Great memories being made even in a tiny hotel room.

I live in Visalia, CA Most hikers check in at Ranger Station and get a map for hiking. The map they gave you is just a general idea of where everything is. Also, you should just drive yourself through the park. They offer the shuttle, but isn't required or necessary. They hope peopke take it, but you're limiting your freedom to see what you want. I've never ever had trouble parking in summer. They don't help much when you pay at entrance. Seeking out help at the Ranger Station is best. Fire is a natural part of sequoia life. It's amazing how they survive. Yes, fewer people visit Sequoia/Kings Canyon and I am so grateful. Yosemite is a nightmare in Spring and Summer. Cedar Grove is out favorite. We drive there every few weeks when they're open.

That was beautiful We are going to get our boy Todd a work out / fitness plan to tackle hikes like this...🙂🙂 Absolutely stunning. I drove Semi for many years and I have pics of my trucks infront of redwoods up in Oregon that make my truck look like a dinky toy. they have a redwood up in BC that has a 2 lane road running thru it. But they should be 1 of the wonders of the world Cheers folks...🙂🙂🍻‼️

I've always loved Sequoia. Crews worked very hard to save those iconic trees you saw. Their bases were wrapped in fireproof blankets of some sort during the big and really bad fire last year. Unfortunately the forest service estimated about 25% (I think it was) of the sequoias were burned so badly they died. Years of severe drought and higher temps made them vulnerable. I loved the thoughts you shared! Hope the funky motel at least allowed some sleep.

Todd, just imagine to fall the giant sequoia tree named General Nobel. Took four men with axes 13 days working on a platform 50' in the air. Recently saw it took eight guys over 40 hours to fall one due to the amount of fire damage it had which made it very unsafe. Also I used to live in Squaw Valley which is the main road in to Kings Canyon.. Just loved Shiela expressions about the room😂🤣. Reminds me of when we took our daughter to a bed and breakfast for a concert. They said that it had two rooms. Well it did her bedroom was a mattress in the closet😹😭😂. Talk about be pissed. Cost me a bottle of wine, plus drinks for the concert. Also ended up buying her dinner and breakfast. Beautiful views up there.. Safe travels and roads Brian and Cindy, "xtreambydesign with passion "
