I’ve been looking at this game on and off for a couple of years now, and one of the biggest things keeping me from it was not knowing how the game works. These videos are really helpful, and I’m now more likely to pick up a copy (or maybe the Utah Beach one, not sure yet)

I hope you give it a try! Utah beach can work, or if you want to start small, try the Saar game which is one map...

Utah is a very expensive game but IMHO worth every penny. You get 20+ scenarios, way more than any other game in system. But if you aren’t sure if the system is for you then Strike and Counterstrike is your best option as per Lee’s recommendation.

On LOS and crest, yes it's a change from 1.0. It's official though! I haven't looked in 2.0 but you can check it out.

Artillery batteries (orange firers) need to be attached to leaders to fire indirect. You handle attachments etc. at the beginning of the turn. They are active during divisional chits as well as the formation whose leader they are attached to. They fire for free during a formation activation (i.e. no CP), and for 1 CP during a divisional activation as a 2nd action. They cannot fire during a Direct Chit because they are white stripers, and anything with a white or black stripe cannot be activated during a DC. We are talking about orange box arty here which can only fire Indirect Fire when in battery and when attached. Other types aren't affected by this and activate normally (such as brown box organic artillery units)

A very clear explanation and one I will copy with pride when explaining how indirect fire works in version 2.0 of the rules.
