People are less likely to be looking at their clock and have their eyes more on the road when travelling at high speeds. So they basically cut a corner by not having the clock read past 120, its just lazy programming not the actual cars being limited.

Yeah I'm really mad that they couldn't take the time for the true car enthusiasts that love this game to just make the speeds match the speedometer. At least the RPMs are accurate. And it would be cool if they could add NoS tanks that work. I know how to boost ramp but that would be sick. But then again, if they can't make a speedometer accurate. No way in hell where getting those. :(
