It is honda who win the race from my test drive between kia and seltos from my test drives. Honda is more mature and it is like full thali meals. Suzuki is more of a diabetic dinner and seltos is having early morning biriyani excited to have but later pay the penalty to the doctor.

It should also attract the younger ones - it has ADAS, it has a good screen, very comfy seats and a nice rear bench (for whatever needs to happen in the rear :-P)

The irony is that every other vehicle even with a 1 litre engine is called an SUV in India. Imagine Maruti Suzuki calls Ignis an SUV. What would you call the real SUVs? Anyway it happens only in India where a medical doctor with a genuine degree is a doctor and a quack is also a doctor. Similarly Airtel and Samsung call their technicians engineers. Disgusting.

Technically these can be classified as entry SUVs, where as smaller vehicles should be called crossovers or hatchbacks/cross-hatchs. True, our country is a place where marketing slogans define the form of a car and not it's dimensions. But we can definately help list down what works, and what does not. :-)

@@carcrazyguy. I nave been a professional rally driver. I was team Mitsubishi, Ford and Chevrolet. Before switching to cars I did bike rallies for BMW, Kawasaki and Honda across the globe. I have driven full SUVs with ground clearance of over 250 mm, engine capacity of 3 L and over 400 horses. They are supposed to have 2 to 3 diffs, 4 or AWD, exceptional tractional control and they can literally climb 60 deg walls. Unfortunately in India, people are being ignorant and making fun of these SUVs. My example of calling a quack and a technician a doctor and an engineer respectively is perfect. I agree with you as well. Yes they should be called crossovers. It is a shame that Maruti Suzuki despite making unsafe cars and having audacity to tell the public that Indians don't need safety and then advertising their small car as SUV....This is so annoying.

Whatever you have said is correct. Honda has been far well engineered with a very mature and bold look. 1.5 L naturally aspirated also has good power and bulletproof reliability. But Honda could have introduced their 1.5 L (175 bhp) turbocharged engine which is available in other Asian markets in other Honda vehicles like HRV, etc.... Even if it was 2 lakhs more than the current topend variant of Elevate it would have been very impressive. Regarding Kia Seltos it has got very good fit and finish with premium materials but the reliability and longevity of Japanese vehicles are unmatched by anyone in the world.

Thanks man! Elevate is great VF but tends to loose out of the oomph factor on a few days. A turbocharged engine would have fixed this issue. Or maybe a strong hybrid - atleast to offer some mind boggling fuel efficiency. But overall, it's easy motoring which many seek

@@paritosh3702 I sort of agree here. On the recent traffic snarls on the Mumbai-Pune and Pune-Wai section (23rd December) I saw 70 percent of the new cars were Kia's, almost all were iMTs and mostly all with the 1.0-litre engine. It was an eye opener for me and a first hand experience.

that's not correct information. In our tests the Elevate performed better. The engine transmission combo is lighter. Elevate Mumbai FE readout is 12.7kmpl whereas with the GV it is 9.8kmpl

I bought a Kia seltos htx plus turbo petrol dct in September his year. I have done 2 long trips in it and I bet this is the best car in its segment.....grand vitara and elevate are way behind seltos, it is very much better than creta also So for those who can spend 22 lakh just close your eyes and bring home a Kia seltos turbo dct, you will be very proud of your decision ❤

Seltos is great no doubt. But I am concerned about the build of that car. Spending 22 big ones and still putting your life in jeopardy is not wise imo. Better to go for Kushaq 1.5TSI.

Agreed the turbo Seltos feels in a different eague. But it's expensive. And reliability issues have been reported plenty under some specific use case scenarios. If money was no bar it would be the Seltos of these three, but the wiser choice has to be the Elevate

Instead of kia htx ivt mid variant I'd definitely opt for elevate zx cvt top variant for lesser price. Elevate has all important features along with adas which kia htx doesn't have. If you have a budget of 23-24 lakhs then buying top variants of seltos , the gtx an xline , make sense because they offer an advanced ADAS and best in class features. So all on all buying only the highest variants of seltos makes sense and instead of mid variant of seltos buying top variant of elevate for lesser price makes more sense.

@@prameetchawla Bro AX7 Diesel with ADAS is 25 on road. It's a very high model. Buying Seltos for 23-24 doesn't make any sense. It's a small car for that price range. Coming to ADAS, yes it has a radar based one. My ZX CVT has camera based but I didn't find any issues with camera based one. It is working very good and already saved me from 2 minor accidents. Is there a number on how many top model Seltos have been sold ? I think it won't be significant

Seltos gtx version with adas will come for 22 Lakhs. I included cost of accessory and extended warranty ty etc. Also you get 360 camera, electronic hand brake and sequential turn indicators and few other features in this version while ax7 doesn't have that. For a small family five seater car this is the best option. Xuv 700 ax7 is 25.6 lakhs . It's still 3.5 lakh more expensive but if you have the need for a 7 seater and budget definitely xuv700 is best car. I d still add little more to go for ax7 luxury edition to get those extra missing features.

XUV700 in my opinion isn't a great car. I would rather sped my money on the Scorpio N. Off these three, the Elevate is the best in terms of VFM. It's premium and it is supremely cost effective. Seltos is appealing but as soon as customers are made aware of it's pricing, they tend to move away from it

Its not all the truth when we compare these 2. I ve driven both and mind you, gv has way better feel and comfort. I ve driven my zeta+ for a stretch of 600kms a day. Never felt tired throughout the journey

In Isolation the GV isn't bad. the elevate is just better. Maybe if you drove the Elevate on that same stretch you would not be tired but also happy with the perfomance, knowing that you had to pay less.

@vipulpunetha6410 I have driven elevate and really not my type though. Am happy that some are comfortable. My personal experience with gv has been fantastic. Almost 1200 kms with 5200 rs of petrol is way practical and worth the cost I've paid.

i driven both ... in term of engine wise honda is best, other that long drive, comfortable, rear seat, grand vitara is good... the gv and honda elevate both reliability so both is king in there variant... when i done long drive i liked gv rear seat is comfortable

7:03 not sure why this is not being talked about enough but the seat hump right in the middle of rear bench is a terrible idea. I loved the car but had to cancel the booking just because of this seat hump, it looked bad and felt out of place.

Somehow, it appears to me like a paid video ad (paid by KIA probably). This guess is based on both the tone and tenor and many things that were unusual in this video and does not appear to me like an unbiased review - rather it was clearly seen as an effort to “sell” the KIA product. Just one example (there are many): even though it was mentioned in the first part of the video that Elevate offers a much better value proposition, the price comparison of the said KIA Seltos was conveniently done with Grand Vitara and not with the Honda Elevate - maybe because it becomes so much harder to sell the value proposition of the Seltos. There are more examples like that which make me believe what I mentioned above. I am sorry to make this comment but it was hard for me to restrain myself from making it. Btw, I used to like the way Vipul reviews the cars (when he was with the other channel). But if my suspicion is true then, it is absolutely wrong to not label a video as an Ad and make it look like a normal comparison (auto journalism). If it is an ad or a featured video then it should be mentioned in the video!

Not a paid review, just putting pooints across. Elevate is a great weekday car, Seltos does weekday and weekend duties well. But it comes at a cost. And that is what I wanted to put across. A little bit more (around 2 lakhs) and you get the Seltos iMT turbo which has a few things better

Can you explain what sort of noises does a CVT make? And no air booming sound in the Elevate. For this very thing to be avoided the wind mirrors are door mounted and not pillar mounted.

I don't know what to answer here , but you can test drive verna cvt and elevate/city cvt back to back you will feel the difference, when your raving up the engine for faster acceleration try to notice 2 different noise one is engine noise and another is noise of cvt transmission working hard. And I drove elevate on highway at 80+ speed I noticed air booming which was comparatively less in kushaq/taigun. I liked elevate very much but got disappointed by noise level. otherwise I would have purchased it. still hoping honda will address these issues.

Kia entered, Maruti got slightly freaked out, then Honda entered, Kia got freaked out. So they paid Top Gear to endorse Kia Seltos. This review is not for common man. It is not possible to have that fun driving on Indian roads in most of the states unless you are on a highway or working with BBC test driving. Reviewer has no idea what common man think of these SUV's, Kia Seltos HTX price is at 21 Lakhs plus on road while elevate top model can be on road with 20 lakhs. Yes its not shiny as Kia Seltos but thats all you need

Elevate is the winner for price to value. Seltos NA is equally great car like Elevate except the suspension set up which is superior on Elevate. Turbo Seltos wins hands down but i wouldn't buy it because driving that fast car on Indian roads poses a great risk

I agree with you on the Vitara. I took the test drive and i felt really poor quality interior. It does not appeal you. Looks are subjective but you get really good and elegant feeling in Honda Elevate.

Which is the philosophy of entry level maruti cars. They are not competing with other cars but competing with two wheelers.

@@deepakviswanathan1877 I presented this anecdote to show that - for example you've a budget of 12 lacs, you can always buy a 5 star rated nexon but you can also buy a 4 star brezza which is better than nexon in every metric for an average consumer. Some people are just looking for a car ( safety rating doesn't matter to them). You can't push those people to buy a honda or tata just because of safety rating and the sales number reflect my point. We all as humans(especially as indians) need to follow road safety
